Ddos are cheap yet terrible effective, They will clog up servers with packages. And if the server migrates and the scriptkiddies want to keep it down they just move their attacks to the new location. I played world of warcraft for 8 years and they never lost the servers due to a DDoS attack.
ERM.... They've been ddos's plenty. A 30 second Google search proved that real quick.

I, and everyone here pays for this game in one way or another. It's a service that should be provided at all times except the planned and annouced downtimes. Just give us an answer on what is realy going on! And yes I have reached the point that I seriously want some kind of compensation for the loss of gametime. After all that is what I pay CCP for. They wont give you details, no reputable IT department would allow giving any details that could high light hardware circumstance of downtime as it would potentially expose vulnerability. So calm down happens in every game for once you can't blame CCP. If you want to be pissed and do something get your net+ ccna msce gsec cissp and ceh and go find lizard squad and call it a day Funny, ive played EQ2 for 7 years never once had a DDoS attack downtime ... played WoW for 4-5 years and never had a DDoS downtime ... played a whole bunch of other games SWG/STO/SWTOR and more never once had a DDoS downtime .. where do you get your info from eves DDoS attacks in the past week are the first time i even heard of a DDoS attack
I was all prepared to post links proving you wrong on the "never had any ddos attacks" crap. But then read the part where you admit you've only ever learned of them in the past week.
lol, welcome to the internet. |

Downtime just got extended another half hour (to 12:30 GMT).
I give up. I'm going to bed. Empty skill queue be damned. |

What amuses me is that the posts regarding downtime have not changed in almost 20 years. LOL.
When EQ came out it would go down for 3 days at a time. Some dealt with it better than others of course.
But even after all these years and a significant increase in the general knowledge of how the internet works we still have the same posts:
1. "I hope we're going to be compensated for this."
2. "I'm going to sue them."
3. "Restart your computers."
Amazing.
Not sure how I feel about compensation for just one day. But either way. It's not outrageous to expect compensation when you haven't provided a certain product to those who have paid for it. A small helping of unalocated SP would be a good gesture. You'd still have whiners. But thier going to whine no matter what.
But like I said. Worse case scenario, timewise, most anybody has lost is a days worth of skill point training. So compensation may be negligible anyway. |
