this is the 3rd time the servers had a DDoS attack

quite likely in your ship, since the whole server is down and not just you.
generally CCP is quite nice about reimbursement when it comes to thinks like this. |

As far as i can see, the server is up, but unreachable. That means if you just have PLAYERS to worry about, you should be Ok since everyone else got booted off as well. NPC's however will keep firing on your ship as long as they can.
Here is, as far as i know, the actual mechanic when you lose connection to the server:
If you are able to (meaning not warp scrambled, inside a bubble and/or having a siege module activated), you will automatically try to warp off about 1 AU in a random direction as soon as the server notices your connection is dead. You will remain in game for 5 more minutes, or until all engagement timers clear, whichever takes longest.
If you did warp out, you will automatically warp back to where you were when you lost connection as soon as you sign back in.
If your ship was destroyed, but your pod wasn't, it will be your pod warping back, or waiting for you where you lost connection. If your pod was destroyed too, you will log in in whatever hangar you set your medical clone to.
