Hey, does anyone know how that tech 1 Raven was fit that lasted 15 minutes (or so) under the fire of 5 opposing ships during the first day of the tournement last week??
I keep hearing that it was fit with cap boosters, but that is really only one component in a setup and I have no idea how 16 cap boosters (max without expanded cargoholds on a raven) could keep a Raven alive that long in any case...
Does anyone know anything more about the setup? (Possibly even the exact setup+implants )

with crystals and a shield boost amp, you could boost for around 1170 HP every 5 seconds, and could sustain it with cap booster 800s

If I might make a suggestion?
Everyone always seems to overlook cap power relays, which give significantly more cap/sec than PDU's. When Red Moon Rising came in, cap power relay's malus (-10% to shield boost amount) came under the effect of the stacking penalty - which made the combo of an amp or two and relays a borderline exploit.
When that was fixed, however, the malus still had stacking penalty, if seperate from boostamps. To illustrate: going from 7 cap power relays to 8 has zero effect on how much cap gets boosted, but it's a 25% increase in cap/second, versus a 14.75% increase for each power diagnostic.
Cap power relays are almost never used in PvP on Ravens, because the shield and the raw amount of extra cap are better in multi-BS engagements (gank > tank), but they could produce that effect.

I doubt the raven was running a capacitor power relay. Because of the boost penalty, its really not worth it, even with stacking penalties. No one uses those on shield tanks. Although personally they are almost too good for armor tanks considering they use virtually no cpu.

Shield boost amount modifier from 5 cap power relays: 0.745x. Net Cap recharge bonus from 5 cap power relays: 3.052x Net Cap recharge bonus from 5 power diagnostic systems: 1.99x 3.052 * 0.745 = 2.274x
Not saying it's a win button, but it's an extra 15%-20% shield boosted than power diagnostics if he went for a full tank (after subtracting what you need to run the hardeners).

Armor tank? Remember that cap relays are low slots- each slot spent on a cap relay is one gone for your tank mods.

fine, but you won't be able to sustain a XL booster and your booster won't be able to tank 5 oponents with cprs.

6x siege launcher II 2x Heavy Modulated Energy Beam
1x cap recharger II 1x XL shield booster II 2x invulnerability field II 1x photon scattering field II
5x Cap power relay I
With maxed cap and shield skills, this can run sustainably forever. As to whether it can tank the opposition - depends on the situation.

Edited by: Vishnej on 22/07/2006 09:08:34 Lasting for 15 minutes and then dropping, on the other hand - it's more probable that they were using something along these lines: max skills - full implantset
some type of NOS, depending on weapons
invuln field II EM hardener II KIN hardener II TH hardener II Heavy cap booster II - INTERMITTENTLY TO KEEP CAP AT 30-40% XL shield booster II - full duty
5x cap power relays
Just gotta get lucky that most of their damage isn't on your soft spot resist, and use the cap booster efficiently on manual when you need it to bring you back to peak regen.

Wouldn't they likely have had faction mods on it? Or are those not allowed in the tourney just like ECM? --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! Link removed due to bad language on remote site. -wystler

If you would have watched that battle a bit more closely then you would have noticed the raven had 4 nos beams coming out of it. So it was fitted with 4 heavy nos, 4 siege in high and then a cap injector on top of that.
As the first post said, it is not nearly enough to have just a cap booster to run your shield that long. Crystal implants only give you more hp per cycle, still gonna cost to run it that long even though he might be able to wait a bit in between.
