I have played for about 2 months with this character and I got 9 days left until I can fly an interceptor. However, I've read lots about Amarr ships in general and Crusader interceptor in particular, and everyone is saying that they are very bad... So I thought maybe I should train for an Armageddon, I only have 6 days left for that. So, I just want to ask how things are with the Amarr Inties atm? And is there a point for a new character to train for an interceptor? Or is it better to get into a Battleship? Will an interceptor be any gd in the hands of a pilot with about 800k sp in useful skills? Is it possible (and if yes, at what level) to solo in an interceptor? And also, I'd be greatful for a list of skills an Amarr Interceptor Pilot must have.
Thank you.

Very general speaking, I know quite a few Amarr Inty Pilots that do a good job with them.
As well, you should train for what you think you'll enjoy most, be it fast inties or slow battleships. In the long run, you'll get both anyway and can test what way you prefer.
By choosing that, do in god's sake not go after forum-whines about which ships suck and which dont, see if you can get the skills and test them, after looking at their stats etc.
Concerning skills, it is a nice boost if you can get the Tech II Guns for your Inty, and have a good amount of skillpoints in Navigation.

I swear by my crusader
Gank: Super high damage with med pulses and heat sinks Speed: even with basic navigation skills (nav/ab 4, evasive 5) it has allmost unrivaled speed Variety: So many setups - can even be setup to tank really well (for a frig) Range: You can even fit dual light beams and fight up to 20km (who needs a 3rd mid for a web if you arnt getting in close)
Can you tell i love my crusader ?
I cant really comment on the malediction - missils eww
P.s The crusader is cheap (for an inty) P.p.s Get T2 small lasers for maximum effect

No no no, 20km is about maximum range. He said "up to 20km". You'll need to fit a few tracking enhancers on the lows if I'm not mistaken

You know whats cool about dual light beams?
They use nearly all your pg, most of your cpu, and they hit for 4-10 damage on tanked armor!
I can't imagine what more I could want from an inty!

Crow is better in both short and long range. Don't use cap for fire, can choose dmg type, can orbit everytime 'cause it don't have transversal issue and you can fit a webber on it so close range inty can't kill you.
Oh yes, Crusader looks better. ________ In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, in the expert's mind there are few.

last 1v1 with crow and me (crusader) he couldnt get in web range and i broke his tank in about 10 seconds before he warped off (i was staying 25-30km away)

Basically Amarr intys can be broken down as such:
Crusader: Damage and soloing Malediction: EWAR, tackling and gangs
Go out and try 'em both for yourself and you'll figure out which one you like best. If you can only afford one, get a Malediction because it looks cooler.

Thing is the crusader does **** damage... if you want a closerange ship fly the ranis you can do massive damage while webbing with drones and also with a tank(DCU). You can barely fit guns on a crusader...

In case you didn't notice the OP was asking about Amarr intys. Everything is relative and compared to the Malediction, the Crusader is the "damage" Amarr interceptor.

1) WTB Crusader that can lock at 30km 2) He warped off, so wtf is your point?

Thanks everyone, but could we PLEASE remember that I was only asking about AMARR INTERCEPTORS. ONLY. And also, this thread is becoming like all other threads on this forum where lots of people post absolutely opposite views and then argue about who know better, rather than actually talking about the subject, so I just wanted to ask people WHO REALLY KNOW to post here, cause I really need help =).
A few more questions - Why is everyone wanting to get as far as possible from a target on an intie? I always thought the inties are meant to be close range ships, but people always strive for a range as close as posssible to 20km. Why?
Why do people always fit a webber on their inties? Arent the inties faster than any other ships already? So they shouldnt have a problem catching up with anyone... Why?
And could you please tell me which skills are essential, i.e. as soon as I'm actually sitting in my Crusader, what should I try to get on it first? T2 guns? Better tank?
Also, what is better - higher resistances or more armor?
Will I need warp scramblers/webifiers for killing npcs?
Do interceptors need a warp core stabilizer? Or is the speed enough to simply run out of the warp scramble range?
Thank you.

I can fly Amarr, Gallente and Caldari ceptors and I must say I like them all. (Got the least affection with the Ares)
I fly my Crusader mainly as anti-support in gangs / fleets. The Crusader from a design philosophy is right up there with the Armageddon and Retribution: firepower and lots of armor.
I believe in capatilizing on a ship's strenghts, I leave keeping people at range like a smart cowards to the moments I'm in my Crow, my Taranis is for dying horribly.
On my Crusader, I emphasize on close range damage and some tanking. Tech 2 pulses with Conflageration crystals hit a webbed interceptor fine and put out a LOT of hurt. Also, don't in any way sacrifice speed, at least slap on a tech 2 mwd because as long as you can get in range, you will even kill plated rocket Crows.
As for skills, I'd say get at least these before even attempting to fit a Crusader, even with named mods I'm 1 PG short of being able to fit a Tech 2 small armor rep instead of a best named: Weapon Upgrades 4 (5 and AWU 3/4 is very very nice though, allows interesting fittings) Engineering / Electronics 5 Acceleration Control 3/4 High Speed Maneuvering 4 Navigation 4/5
I normally fit an mwd + web on my crusader, heat sink, small repper and dual light pulses. If you face a taranis, keep at range 5K and you will still hit him while his blasters don't. (If he uses 75mm rails and thus still hits you, just get closer =]) ------------------------------------------ A lapdance is always better when the exotic dancer is crying.. |

personal attacks ftl
for other peoples info... crusader can lock at 30 km, dual light beams CAN do damage with skills (esp vs sheild tanking crow) and crow pilot was not unskilled.
Hakuin if you think X ship (crow in this case) always beats Y ship (crusader in this case) then you need to goto a pvp school and learn some more, i hear there are some good ones around.
like i said earlier, tactics > sp and player skill also > sp
If you only ever use ship setups that youve seen posted on here or by a friend than you are really missing out on what your ship is capable of. It's a game, experiment and try new things.
Also i am rather annoyed at people who consider a fight only won or lost when someone ends up dead. This is lame, an engagement that results in one person / gang leaving the battlefield is their oppositions victory.
In the above mentioned dogfight i was victorious because i broke my enemys tank while holding my own and forced him to leave the battlefield. This to me is a better victory than a kill. Especially in a fight where i am barely scathed, it is like striking a man while he is down...the cowards way. |

As far as skills go...
Navigation is allways great - but not your primary target (imo since my nav skills are poor)
Id say... T2 Guns T2 MWD level 4+ nav skills

lol you can't lock at 30km without a sensor booster. Btw personal attack? You are totally wrong, sorry. I killed a lot of thing in my crusader, with some inusual setups (jaegersader anyone?), but Crow > Crusader, not 'cause crow is better, just because missile > dual beam and rocket > gatling/dual pulse. Yea, tactics > sp but you need to be in a competitive ship and your opponents always try to apply their tactics too.
Btw yes, im a really crappy pilot, give me some hint please! Or wait, please duel with me 1v1, so i can learn your pwnage tactic ________ In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, in the expert's mind there are few.

This has to be one of the stupidest things I have read in a long time. If you think you can kill a an equally skilled crow pilot in a crusader by using 'clever tactics' then I think there is no hope for you at all.

Crusader/Malediction = Cylon Raider
Crusader is a more solo-ish ship compared to the Malediction. Malediction can be used solo but it always feels a little more fragile to me. It is a bit more versatile than the crusader though and can be used quite effectively in a small gang.
Also I think forcing your enemy to run away is the same thing as killing their ship (in non-war circumstances of course...during war you want to hurt your enemy in the pocket book, not just in their head). Unless you feel like concord has been neglecting you and you really want to hear from concord because you miss them =( ---

First of all i think u have ur roles mixed up.Inty's are primary tacklers and then anything else. so wtf can u tackle from 30k. If u want to stay at these distances get a AF or cruiser and do a better job with it. I agree with u saying that victory is not only poding the other pilot(But at least u must TRY). So i cant agree with u that u was victorious when u was too afraid to engage the crow as an inty pilot and dive in for the scrab and web->kill and u stayed safetely at 30km outrunning him. If that is the case i can WTF be victorious to any t2 frig by riding my griffin . I wont win the fight but the other pilot will eventually warp out
ps.shield tanking CROW WTF is that :PPPppppPPPPppp
