Hi everyone! I'm wanting to start a career as a pirate, so I was wondering if someone could give me some tips, links to articles, etc. I've already looked at the stickys.

Pirate resource sticky has pretty much everything you can be taught. The rest comes with experience.

dont pod, quite simply because it gives a huge sec hit, i went from -0.3 to -1.3 from podding someone , if you want to pod then i would recommend making another character on yer acount who can bring modules and stuff from systems you eventually wont be able to visit, imo dont be greedy when ransoming take into account what you are fighting, cause if you are fighting a 7 million isk cruiser then dont ransom for 20million isk cause they will probably tell you to go to hell. respect yer victims and be honourable in my opinion, dont ransom , then blow him up , if you do ransom and then say a rat blows him up whilst you still have him scrammed then give some of the ransom back if he has payed, not necessarily all of it but some of it. Dont smacktalk in local, if they give you a load of grief, either just ignore it or say a smart ass remark that will make others in local laugh at them. Be prepared to lose yer ship and try to have another close by as backup fully fitted so you dont have to fly about for 3 hours looking for modules. MAKE SURE TO INSURE ALL SHIPS to keep isk losses at minimum. Train to use nosferatu, warp scrambler, webifier as these are invaluable, the scrammer speaks for itself, the webber reduces subwarp speed to like 10% of its maximum, and the nosferatu drains enemy ship capacitor reserves and adds to yer own. dont bully one particular corp for extended periods cause they will eventually mobilise and get you. Be patient about yer work , sometimes you can go for hours without a fight , sometimes you will get one every 5 minutes.
And finally make sure to say YEARRRRRGHHHH when ransoming for kicks

I actually have a question relating to this.
Having recently gotten my caracal blown up (as well as a friend that was warping to me and I told him not to too late, as a recon ship jumped us), I want to try my hand at pirating in a frig so that I wil not loose much ISK.
So I have a couple of questions:
1. I like speed and I like missles, I can use both Caldari and Gallante frigs, so which would be a good idea for solo pirating or paired up with one other person?
2. Basically, how much could I take on with a frig? Should I stick to attacking other frigs and destroyers in .4 space? Or is there a chance for me to be able to take out a cruiser if I can get fast enough and jam its weps?
3. Should I even bother using the frig and just use a destroyer?
Thanks!

1 kessy or rifter(check ship and mod forums for a fitting)
2 take everything on u can in a belt and orbit, alot of bc/bs/crusiers have large guns on and when u orbit then they cant hit u. its a 500k frig with fittings u hardly loose anything.
3 frig over dessy in my opinion dessy has slower speed and higher sig radius so its easyier to hit.
and even thou i hate and dont use try ecm its basicly a i win button.

A word of warning on this though - drones can mess you up.
Also, if you do lose your ship, you may very well lose your pod. So there is more to lose than a frig (don't get implants if you don't want to lose isk).
Missiles will hit you regardless of your TV (unless you are going faster than the missiles). Having a small sig radius is good for you, reduces the damage.
And lastly, I don't know whether it was sucky luck or what, but I came across a cruiser using T2 small pulses and lost my ceptor figuring I'd be dodging medium lasers. So life is unpredictable, be prepared for crazy stuff.
Oh and watch out for smartbombs.
As caldari go with a Kestrel for heavy damage but not much speed or evasion, or try out a merlin perhaps (don't know for sure I don't use caldari frigs for piracy - but I know nothing of gallente so there's my advice). ___________________________________________

Learn to smack talk, but not the kind that breaks the EULA, just the kinda that angers other people into breaking the EULA .

most mallers fit undersized guns so they can put a 1600 800 on it.
never fought a maller with cruiser size guns on it iirc
