How does a weapon that forces the pilot out of his ship sound? Ship theft could be possibility of combat then.

Edited by: Sue Zuki on 23/07/2006 00:11:46 Perhaps the weapon that does it might only be active when the enemy is into hull?
The enemy could start the self-destruct timer on his ship if he thinks its going to be stolen. That means the attackers have 2 minutes to eject him and stop the self-destruct.
Maybe its a weapon on only some t2 ships?
Attacker has to leave his ship behind. Maybe there could be an autodock facility as part of the weapon, or an upgrade for doing that. Or that the attacker has to leave his ship behind.

no that weapon would be unfair on the weaker newer players who would constantly have ships stolen from them... and as soon as a countermeasure module is created it will be standard fitting like stabs are.
Ship stealing is already possible... I have on occasion chosen to bail out and hit the autopilot to make for whatever random system i had as my escape destination rather than get caught in the lag of my ship exploding around me.... id rather lose a few mil of ship than over a hundred mil of implants in the inevitable podding id get for not having instant control to escape due to said lag. |

A good point but newer players would probably have cheaper ships. In fact it might encourage noob pvp because if a gang of them can win they could steal a BS! So long as one of them had skill to fly it. ;-)

Edited by: Reggie Stoneloader on 23/07/2006 03:09:46 I've given this some thought on the other occasions when it's been suggested in various forms, and I can't justify it.
For me, it comes down to insurance. A ship that's stolen, rather than destroyed, doesn't pay insurance. For a newb who takes a week to earn a million isk, a 100% loss on their mission-running Caracal would be ruinous. If you pay insurance on stolen ships, then I'll just make an alt and steal a Raven back and forth all day, insuring it each time for some a wild cash flow that I'll be trading Leviathans back and forth in short order.
If you want to steal a ship, scram it, take it into hull and tell the guy that you'll let his pod go if he ejects. If he's got good implants then the ship, its setup and its cargo will be yours. If not, you'll have to sc*****up the remnants and make what profit you can.
Edit: And just because a newbie's ship is worth less than a HAC doesn't mean it represents a smaller portion of their overall wealth. My first mining Osprey cost me several days worth of Bantam mining proceeds, and I couldn't even afford to insure it until I'd been using it for a while. Same thing with my first Badger. The fact that you could buy a dozen of them with the proceeds from one day of ratting doesn't mean they won't feel the sting of its loss.
