I'm a noob, finally moved up to cruisers, and decided best cruiser atm for pvp for me would be stabber, anti-frig (tackling in frigs).
So i'm wondering what some good anti-frigate set ups would be?
Would also appreciate pve setups too though

Could go with: Highs: 4 280mm arty's, or 180mm autocannons, 2 medium nos/ standard/ assualt launchers Mids: 10mn mwd, web scrambler, lows: 800mm plate, small repper, gyostab/ or small repper/ 2x gyrostabs

280s are small, frigate sized weapons. Their sig is good against frigs. However, for such goal (killing frigs) I would recommend a Dual 180s + small nuetralizer setup, MWD / 20km warp disruptor / web. Even 220s will do if you have the skills for tracking good. Stabber gets a bonus for medium weapons, use them.

4x Dual 180mm Autocannon / 220s track pretty good too. w/EMP rounds 1x Assault Launcher / Rocket Launcher w/Your flavor of missile
1x MWD 1x Webber 1x 7.5km Scram
1x 400/800mm Plate (I haven't looked at PG/CPU at this point, just doing what I think will fit.) 1x Med / Small Armor Rep II
With my alts crappy skills I was doing 1.1km/s with a named AB, I have no clue how insanely fast thing this is with a MWD and better skills.

D180s are easier to fit than 220s, and a web (or dualweb against closerange interceptors) is more useful than even two tracking enhancer. Your DPS can be further increased by a Gyrostabilizer, I recommend to use one.

Tracking on your guns wont matter at all, all you have to do is a thing called maneuvering. So go with 425s (3x Gyros) if you want to pop em fast.

Staying at range 7km is quite a good distance, even when webbed frigates can be quite hard to hit so the further away you are the less your turrets have to track.

Ok now i've run into a dilemma...
how important is cap sapping? because i could fit either a med nos or a med neut, and still fit an assault launcher and all 4 turrets (180) if i fit a reaction control unit... of course that means i have to sacrifice either armor plating or armor rep (neither i wanna do) or gyrostabs (rather nto ditch either)... but then i'd get to have a missile, 4x AC AND nos/neut
if i keep all my low slots as originally planned (amor rep + armor plate + gyrostab), then i can actually 220s instead of d180s and fit either 1x med neut or 2x small neut (or nos), or not fit any cap killers at all and attach 2x assault launchers. alternatively i could attach 1x med nos and 1x standard launcher, and fit 180s.
so the imortant questions are... how big a deal is 180s vs 220s? and how important is cap killing? and how important is the gyro stab vs the advantage i get from RC?

Iv flown the stabber and recently tested it out a few times, you can save on pg by using a damage control it doubles your hull and is only slightly less hp than a 800mm carb plate and alot better than a 400mm without the speed or agility penalty.
If your only going after frigates either t1/t2 you would need to dedicate your lowslots to speed mods to catch inties or mwding t1 frigates. Stabber just doesnt have the pg or the low slots for a decent tank and doesnt need one to kill anything smaller than a cruiser. If you want to kill anything else just fit an mwd to a rupture, your have loads of pg with a stronger punch to it.
Stabber needs a change, either more pg or a change in slot layout.
