This mission really shocked me, and it ~almost~ cost me my Prophecy.
I remember doing this mission quite a while back, and it has obviously changed somewhat. The second stage has all of the rats in a single Mob, and they all aggro of course together.
My tank broke just in time as I was warping out - it's kinda cool to come skidding into the nearest stargate out of warp, on fire - it sure makes for some nice visual effects.
Any advice on running this one solo in a BC?

This is what I tried in my Brutix and it worked fine: warp in and move away from the main group with afterburner engaged, dont try to stay too long, maybe take out 1 enemy then warp out, when I came back only half the enemies agro'd on me so to say the least it was alot easier the seccond time around, I remember completing the mission but I dont remember if there were anymore stages to it after the first and if so I dont remember how hard or easy they are.
I think I may have just been lucky with the agro but you never know this might be the way to do the hard part every time.

I think I'll wait until my corp mates come online. This is one seriously difficult mission for a solo L3.

This one cost me my Brutix, I was really trying to solo this one in my Brutix. But I think the damage output is higher then you can tank in a BC.
The second stage is what killed me. I think I even was running 2 MAR II's and 3x hardeners although I could be wrong.

I almost lost my BC too doing this mission. I kept warping in, killing a few ships, warp out, rinse and repeat.
Eventually you get the numbers down to a manageable amount, but the time needed to do this just isn't worth the payout.

Until CCP fixes the mass agro in stage 2 (assuming it is, in fact, a mission bug), this mission will continue to be in the "stupid hard" category.
Having to warp out, return, and hope for partial agro as ships are returning to their starting places isn't a way to complete a mission, in my opinion.

Its totally doable in a battleship with 2x Large Reps.
Well at least it was quite easy for me to do it in my dominix, cap recharg in mids, and 2x Large Armor Repper II. 250mm rails, and lots of hardeners.
So its doable, but should come with the warning "bring friends or a battleship"

Not hard, but takes a long time. Fit AB, 2-3 kinetic hardeners (I did it repeatedly with shield tank and 2 kinetic) and long range weapons. Keep above 30km and kite the spawn. Missile damage is tankable as it's purely kinetic and not that hight. It's the "blasters" that chew you up.

Edited by: Pasanda on 24/07/2006 08:51:22 Edited by: Pasanda on 24/07/2006 08:49:00 I ran this for the first time in my shield tanked cyclone last night, using 3 large tech 2 extenders, a large booster and the rest of mid and low as rechargers.
10k shield with a 360 recharge. This just about held long enough to take out the first 1 or 2, when the dps then drops to a manageable level.
I managed them all except the last to bounty hunters, which neither A/C's nor artillery could touch them, and the 3 heavy launchers were easily tanked by them. I didn't have webififier skills at that point, so couldn't finish without help.
Don't use drones until they are orbiting you, otherwise they just wipe them out RQ.

Is this the old mordus mission with 3 groups or a new one (deadspace?)
Did the old one yesterday without breaking a sweat in my ferox

It's the new deadspace one. There's 30+ ships in the second stage, BC's, cruisers, frigs and inties. If you're not careful they all aggro when you fire the first shot.. then if you're not aligned to warp out it can be quick and painful.
Lost a Cyclone here as I wasn't aligned and couldn't tank all the damage coming in before my webbed ship could turn itself about.. but they don't aggro on you right away so you can enter the room and align yourself before opening fire and then take out one or two before warping out and gradually whittle them down until it's manageable.

This mission stage 2 is currently more difficult than a lot of the lower level lvl 4 missions, I had to warp out a couple of times in my HAC yesterday which I usually use to run level 4s, the multi-agro thing is a killer.
As above, best advice is to aling to your warp, start ABing towards it then pull, kill the frigs as they come in range and warp out, 2nd time in I agro'd everything again but the third time managed only to get half of the remaining pack.
fun mission, disgustingly hard for a level 3 at the moment though.

Edited by: Pasanda on 24/07/2006 11:45:49 Hum. Something funny here. As i said, i did this only last night. The 2nd wave had only about 10-12 ships, although it was still tuff as heck. Not twenty as previously posted.
I would imagine a ferox would do at least as well as my cyclone...? Probably a darn site better!

i know your talking about lvl 3's
for you who dont get it or just messing around there are 2 missions with the same name 1 is encounter and the other is Deadspace..
I have had both on lvl 4 enounter is doable in typhoon deadspace i have lost 4 typhoons to the all argo bit first one was due to not knowing about the all argo second due to mutli-warped scambled third and fourth due to damage out of the npc's i.e. killed in less then 5 seconds

Yep the deadspace one is the one I was discussing. I'm glad it's not just me - although not a professional pilot, I liked to think I had a decent enough setup and with enough skill points to know what I was doing.
I'm just going to add this mission to my "pass list" - the time and risk is just not worth the payoff. And lets face it, missions are for grinding, so this one is certainly not worth it.
Thanks all.

I find if you move away to around say 50km, then shoot at the nearest rat to get its attention, usually only half of them come towards you.
I've yet to do it enough times to be sure this works every time.

Edited by: Zaphod Bee on 25/07/2006 20:17:55 I just did the new version of Headhunters again last night in my Raven. I had to quit the mission last week in a Ferox. I found something interesting about the last room. As before, I got complete agro on first warp in (even though I used the suggestion to target paint the nearest frig in the left-hand group). After recharging and warping back in, I only received agro from a few cruisers. After I downed them I was told that the mission was completed! At least 2/3s of the main force remained at a distance. However, be warned that they will open up if you go looting cans and get too close to them. Now if anyone can tell me how to finish In the Midst of Deadspace part I (lvl 4) I'd be mighty appreciative! They added much more firepower and extra warp scrambling apocs to this new version.

I do this in a Brutix. Upon arriving, turn around and start to run away aligned to something. Shoot one nearby rat. Sometimes you get half the group, sometimes the whole group, not sure what the difference is yet. If the whole group targets you, pop a few without using your drones (you'll be warping soon) then warp out when your tank breaks. When you come back in, do the same thing again, and this time you should be able to aggro them in separate groups. ---

This mission is seriously bugged on the 2nd stage, I got twice into 50% hull with my Brutix and still havent finished the d... mission yet. It sucks bigtime.

While the new version of this mission was tough the first time, I now find it easy to do in my passive tanked Ferox. I just use standard MMO practices and run out to my maximum range *before* firing. Then I keep running at my awesome 160 m/s and just nuke 'em all down with heavy missiles. Takes a while to collect the loot but is really pretty easy once you get range on them.

I really like this mission.
im using my Assault Frigate (Ishkur) with a heat and kinetic hardener in the lows. Keeping your distance to 35-40 km they dont stand a chance. But kill the two Mordus Bountyhunters first they are likley to webb or scramble you.
btw you can check the mission rewards the deadspace version of the mission pays roughly the double of the encounter one.(for me 800lp or 1700lp)

I've done it in my Cyclone a few times now with no warp-outs. 1 assault and 2x standard launchers (all named), 5x 650mm scouts, Y-S8 AB, 3x large extender IIs, large booster II, 4x PDS II. (I've recently given up some tank for damage. Swapping 2 PDS for RCU allowing 3x arbalest standard launchers and 5x 720mm scouts, but haven't done this mission yet to compare.)
Gets a bit close early on if they all agro at once, but when that happens I just 180 and AB away from them, spreads them out nicely. Pick off the small ones with drones and missiles while the arty plugs away on the cruisers. Usually by the time the small stuff is done there's a couple cruisers down as well and it's no worse than a normal L3 at that point.
Most of the time though I've found they don't agro until you start shooting. so I now try to move off to the right flank before opening up so that the (bigger) ones on the left are out of agro distance.
