Aside from the lack of NPC stations and stronger rats. Is there any real difference between Low sec and Double Z?

Well bubbles and interdictors are scary and gate camps are sometimes super big. Then u have no concord and no sentry guns to protect you. There is kinda of alot npc station in some regions thugh.
yeah and the players you meet and try to fight tend to be a hole lot better then lowsec players.

- different inhabitants - bubbles - more money to be made -> people will shoot first and probably forget to ask the questions later.

True, although it's also dependant on who's 0.0 it is :)

As a 0.0 inhabitant, I can say with some certainty that the only thing I hate more than high-sec empire is low-sec empire.

They're the same. Being established in 0.0 makes you real safe, being established in low sec makes you real safe. The rats and ore is better in 0.0, but complexes and low sec missions are easier to get to in low sec.

0.0 is "Real Man's Land"
0.1 - 0.4 is "Carebear Land" where the Carebears (aka wannabe pirates) go around ganking newbies because they are too scared to enter 0.0

yet they always act so big and tough with their 4 man gangs when they gank a lone mission runner or something.....Lame-wads to the extreme in my opinion.

No because it teaches you to keep on your toes and work as a team.
Granted you have generally bigger fleets but then the enemy has generally bigger fleets to counter it and sometime it can be that the attacking force will be totally out numbered but they can and will at times take the area they want.
It teaches you to be better in game on most aspects.

Okay, this thread is stupid.
TheDeceit said it best.
0.0 vs lowsec? WHY IS THIS even asked? They're two different areas altogether.
Duh everyone is safe in Empire 0.5 and above ("safe"). In 0.4 - 0.1 you are going to find the same players you'll find anywhere else in EVE, along with some -10 players. In 0.0, you're going to find the EXACT SAME THING you'll find in 0.4 - 0.1 except you will not find players' sec in the toilet because there are no penalties for killing someone in 0.0.
This said, let's make a demonstration. I am a pilot flying into a lowsec space that I have never been to before. OMG PIRATES! -10s EVERYWHERE! HUGE BOUNTIES!!!! OMGZ DOCK DOCK DOCK!!! They'll kill me probably if I don't know them!
Okay, let's fly into 0.0. There's a sniper at a gate that doesn't know me. I'd better run. Warping to gate on the other side of the system... ut oh, more people that don't know me oh shi
See, it's going to be the same wherever you go. Just find a place that you're comfortable with and move in. How you move in, however, will depend on the locals.
