Eve is my favorite game. It's the best MMO I have ever played and I have played a lot. I have never played a MMO where you wait 5 days to get a petition answered though.
I understand summer is a time when the staff will be getting out there and going on holidays, and these are well deserverjkfbhajhkgfbkadsg OH GOD JUST ANSWER MY PETITION!!

CCP need more support staff, yes.
On the other hand, having less of a "OMG I LOST A SHIP. MIGHT AS WELL PETITION, MIGHT GET BACK" or "SOMEONE KILLED ME, MUST BE SPLOITING. OMGPETITION" or "OMG WE LOST A DREAD. EVERYONE PETITION AT ONCE" culture in the game would help a hell of a lot too
BTW, are you bumping it?

I am sure every game has this sort of problem though. It's something EvE could do without but, it's never going to go away I don't think.
Saying that its the players fault makes no sense. I'm not saying you are saying this, but just incase you are, well every game has a problem like this when it comes to petitions and pages and whatever they are called. But shouldn't CCP deal with them a little better?
5 days for any petition regardless of the type of petition, is too long.

Posting threads here is sadly not going to get your petition answered any quicker, and the latter part of your post is rather non-constructive. While waiting for an answer can be frustrating and slow, posting here does not improve the speed of it.

Good. Apparently bumping it puts it to the back of the queue

As for this, I'm not saying it purely the playerbase's fault. Its just a pet peeve of mine. As I said, CCP do need more support staff.

I seem to remember that there is something about petitions that haven't been updated within 24 (?) hours or so are being closed and believed sorted out unless the petitioner updates it or something? Don't quote me on that though :P

Well, I just quoted you. And it isn't quite right
They have to have been replied to by the GMs (after each last player response) before it can be autoclosed.

Well, there you go - that's what my experience with petitions was worth :P I stand (sit? post?) corrected :)

If there are more support staff to answer more petitions then that will encourage more people to send more petition. Vicious cycle!

Not sure about that one. Seems a lot of the petitions might simply be junkmail and the overall level of petitions probably won't rise, as per-capita I wouldn't say petition levels are very numerous imo.

quote quoting ftw...
Don't you just love it when a gm replies along the lines of 'we're looking into it', after which you notice the next day that the auto closure system has closed the petition due to 'client inactivity'?
