Anyone have any idea when they will fix multi-monitor support? It totally flips out when I tell it I have two monitors.
And don't tell me about the nView option to spread the desktop over two screens..that isn't true multimonitor and it looks like hell unless you are using three monitors.

I just received my second monitor and was using the nview spreading over 2 monitors. In full screen EVE only uses one screen and shuts down the other, in windowed mode it only works in 1024x???. If I change the resolution the window becomes about 300 pixels big - can't see anything in it. How do I fix this?

you dont need to use nview at all to accomplish 2 monitors with EVE.
first make sure you have both monitors plugged in and turned on. then go into the advanced settings tab on the video card where you normally set up antiailiasing and stuff. there should be a section on the left side of the window thats for display modes, i cant remember what its called.
you have to set it to "span horizontally" and then set the montor you want to be the left monitor as the primary display.
before you do anything with this feature make sure that you set the windows desktop to a resoultion that BOTH monitors can support. once you get the desktop stretched between both screens, start up EVE.
set eve to a resolution that both monitors can run and select the "2 monitors" option for that resoulution.
thats how i got it to work for me
the only problem is that it displays the ship as cut in half between the two screens and its imposssible to change it. so its kinda annoying :/

It doesn't work I tried everything. I can only span the screen horizontal (cutting the ship in half) but It should be possible to have your ship on one screen and maybe the star map on the other (or something else). I almost bought a pci vid card so I could have 3 monitors. But my friends stopped me.
MUST HAVE PATCH TO DO MULTY MONITOR STUFF.

I did an experiment... bought an pci gforce 5200 put it next to my gforce 5900... hooked up one 21"and two 19" crt's and the result is that eve does not support more than one video card at a time... I did't try very hard because I already regretted the buy and returned the card to the store. my guess is that the parphelia is the only one that can have eve on 3 screens.
so my ship is stil cut in half (2 monitors)... less beauty .... more space...
I also noticed that the multimonitor support option (primary left or right) has been removed since the last patch.
Tooo bad..

My roommate runs EVE with multimonitor support, but he runs EVE on one monitor and his desktop on another. I'll point him to this thread, maybe he can offer suggestions.
He's running an ATI Radeon 9000 PRO

Edited by: Lu Tze on 02/01/2004 00:41:03 Eve can only run on one 'software monitor', not multiple 'software monitors'.
Which have you got? Go to Display proterties, settings. If you can see one wide monitor, you can use this feature of Eve. If you have lots of monitors you can arrange, you cannot use this feature.
If you have a SINGLE graphics card with multiple outputs, you can change the DRIVER settings (not the display settings) to Horizontal span, under the advanced settings, so that Windows thinks there is only one very wide 'software monitor'. Eve will display on this one very wide 'software monitor', which is made up of multiple 'hardware monitors'.
The difference between the two being what Windows sees, either one big wide monitor (the spanning is handled by the graphics hardware), or multiple normal monitors (the spanning is handled by Windows).
This is how it's designed to work, and it works perfectly for people will dual-output cards in horizontal span mode, or that Matrox card with 3 outputs.
For it to work in a case where Windows sees multiple monitors, CCP will need to do a LOT of work. This is an extra feature, not a bug.
Terghon, I believe your friend runs Eve in Windowed mode on one monitor, leaving the other monitor available for other things. If you run full screen on one monitor, and click anything on the second, Eve will minimise, which is what a number of games do in this situation (GTA3, for example).
Sorry this is long winded, but I'm just trying to get across how this works. And I'm not very good at explaining things.
