I just started playing EVE a few days ago. The whole idea of choosing between being a pirate, trader, or a mission runner totally reminds me of a game that was originally made for the Mac called Escape Velocity. You can buy EV-Nova for the PC now. The difference is that it's just a 2d game and you fly the ship with your arrow keys. You started in a little shuttle, and by the end of the game you'd be taking out whole fleets of pirates with your ship of 7 turrets. There was a whole political system behind the game too. You had a standing record for each faction, and if you did missions for one, it would shift the power of the star sytems. I don't know, I just thought people who like EVE might like it. If you guys are bored google it, you can play it for free I think. And to the people that have played EV (not EVE), what did you think of the game?

you should give elite a go as well now you have seen the light and got rid of the mac

lol, that was when I lived at my parents house. I've always saw the light, but it was at the end of a tunnel. Now that I'm 24, I've been out of the tunnel for quite a while now!

me and a friend of mine still play EVN, we tend to brag to eachother about what our latest accomplishment was. ofcourse he completly surpassed me after conquering the Sol system in a Mod Starbridge (we both love that ship). he also loves taunting me about his captured fleet, usually his little starbridge is escorted by 5 or 6 heavy Pirate Carriers and/or Manticores (Carrier is obvious, it spews lots of little ships and has some nice heavy weapons, like, say, nukes, attached to it also. the Manticore is a capital class Ion Cannon platform, with 8 of em it can disable anything smaller than a light capital class in less than a few seconds. with upgrades, it's also frightningly fast, able to catch up to alot of what would be cruiser class ships)

The forum says EVN is a 2D game and never will be 3D. The screenshots page shows a 3D game. WTF
