I have been on both sides of the jamming spectrum. When you are getting the shaft it is terribly frustrating. When you are giving the shaft you feel like a god.
Anyway, since ECM is chance based, perhaps the chance to regain a lock could be chance based as well. As time elapsed the chance of getting unjammed would become progressively easier, until you regain lock or the cycle of the jammer has to restart. This could be explained as your ship, crew, and yourself trying to adjust sensors and scanners to re-obtain lock. Instead of just saying,"Hey, we've been jammed, let's go get a drink and come back later."

Pod technology eliminated the need for crew-manned starships. It's just you jacked into your ship

I like that better, but maybe its just because I fly an ecm dom.

and in the latest e-on, they talked about a scorp pod pilot who controlled his ships through mind links in his crew.
ecm is fine, on my dom, i either give up an ecm or 2 for eccm, it is a tradeoff. If anything, boost eccm a bit more.
