I will have trained for command ships in a couple of weeks - just wanted another ship option .
My current dilemma - which skilltree to polish up next? My main combat activity is mission running, and I am using a Raven at the moment - but I have been hearing good things about the Dominix.
Skills are about as good with missiles as drones at the moment - all 4s and 5s. I could train for medium and light attack drones right now, but to get heavies I'd have to get heavy drones V first. I believe there are four race-specific drone skills to get?
Missiles, on the other hand - bare minimum for my current purposes would be cruise V and torps V, to train the corresponding specialisations. Of course, if I went that route I'd eventually want all the rest of the missile specialisation skills as well.
Maybe I ought to train the drone specs now, for use on my mission raven?
Suggestions would be welcomed.

If you are going to use Caldari ships alot, max out the launcher skills m8 . For the Domi you better could train drons/hull stuff.

Edited by: Ngwee on 25/07/2006 23:52:07 Cruise and torps are a long train. But to get T2 Meds and Lights in all 4 races will be less than either.
T2 drones make a real difference and in my Raven I carry 5 each of T2 Meds and T2 lights selected for their damage type. The lights make short work of those pesky Intie and AF rats - and the Meds add a hefty wallop to your missile damage.
Id recommend getting the drones up to T2 med in all races first then T2 Cruise then T2 Torps.

If you are only mission running, then arbalest launchers are good enough so the missiles specialisations are not really needed. As you shouldnt be using T2 ammo in missions, and you only lose a little ROF, but gain a lot of extra fitting (grid and cpu).
T2 drones are good to have, but i would use mediums or lights with mission running, something to kill the frigs and cruisers a bit quicker. So train up for T2 medium and lights, and then train up for T2 launchers after that.
Raven is better for mission running, no question.

Well and sinse some of the missions are bugged and everything aggros your drones when you release them I would say go for Raven in that departement instead of domi. And for that read the advice of the person above me. With a little priority change, your shieldtanking, but I take it will be already pretty effective.

Thanks guys. I had thought this already, really - the raven can't take enough heavies to make a good job of it.
I will finish my current training cycle (getting command ships 4 is what i have set my heart on) and then work on t2 drone skills. Heavy drones V can wait a while; so can the missile skills.
By the way, I am Mr. Cheapskate; the best launcher I usually fit is Malkuth.
Do better launchers really make that much difference? I have one malkuth siege and 3 assorted cruise (1 malkuth and two with the funny numerical name at the moment) none of which cost me a penny.

the better named launcher do indeed give a lot of difference. They have mostly a better rof as well as they can fit in more missiles. And the funny numerical names are as far as I know the second best named, just under the 'arbalest' launchers. T2 are best but takes lot of of stress on the powergrid.
