Ive decided to try these types of missions after running alot of kill missions on my main account. After reading alot of forum posts it appears that alot of the courier trade and kill % are wrong, from the information that appears on many peoples bio's is quite old. So was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of what type of agent i should be aiming to work for to get a very high % of courier missions as i really dont want to be getting offered lots of kill missions.

i have tried the storage. and it have atm given me 60% courier and 40% kill aprox. i did get 2/3 mission today as kill. so could only do 1 courier due to have to wait on the rejecting or loose standing.

apparently even same type of agent depends on what area they are in what copr they work for so apparently more complex.

Distribution is the one i've been using but im unsure of the ratio of kill to courier missions ... basically just seems to be random screwed in favour of courier. Best advice would be to hunt out a station with a number of agents (of all levels if you dont have the corp or faction standings) so you can skip to and fro between agents.
Some hints: Nobody "seems" to run these missions. Go to any system in low sec with a station full of level IV/III agents and a their will be a reasonable number of people in local. In systems with the equivalent level III/IV courier missions you'll have no one (obviously due to the fact that the courier missions requires you to travel out of the system) coming into and out of the system all that much...this may also be down to courier missions being a step above mining for excitment value.
Im sure you know to BM your warp from station to gate, gate to station and gate to gate points in the surrounding region(s). Agility increasing skills are a must in my opinion too (there are also a 5% and 3% "Rogue" implant for speed and agility - though the 5% ones go for around 0.3 bil ISK so....up to you).
I know you didn't ask for advice in your original post but other than that your flying a 1mil ISK (max) ship with (lets face it) rubbish in most of the time. If you do run into a gate camp it probably costs more in ammo to kill you than your ship actually costs.

Edited by: SIR PRIME on 01/08/2006 08:11:31 Having logged over 700 missions in the last month (lvl 3 & 4) for the manufacturing division I can positively say I never received a kill mission except for in a storyline mission. So if 100% couriering is your aim its hard to beat. The problem with storylines is you don't get to pick your agent so sometimes it sends you to one from another division.
As to the low sec problem - just examine the agent, their location and the constellation they're in. There are a lot at level 4 that are in safe space and never send you low sec. Might take a bit of experimentation though as manufacturing division like to send you within 6 jumps of your agent on each leg of a mission and that almost always take you outside of your constellation (something that some players swear never happens). I have a lvl 4 qual 17 agent in a 0.5 system so the rewards are out there if you can be botehred to do the footwork.
Edit: by 100% courier I actually mean no combat - its 95% courier, 5% mining/trading.

Combat missions never send you outside the constellation. Courier missions send you anything up to 6 jumps in any direction, regardless of constellations. Presumably that's where the difference of opinion arises. ________________________________________________

I have just started an alt character that will be running trade missions while I do other stuff on my main account, what kind of money is in this in lvl 3 and 4?.
Thanks.

Like one of the players above, i've been building up standings on an alt, but using production missions.
On the whole run from level 1's to 4's, i dont think i have seen one kill mission (other than the storylines, which seem always to come from command agents).
As far as cash goes, it varies as usual based on sec rating and Quality, but level 3's were netting in the 100k range and lvl 4's seem to be 150k + bonus to around 500k + bonus. Overall, its less than equivalent kill missions, but not too bad as a side effect.

I've heard this 6 jump limit a lot but I've had plenty of courier missions that sent me farther than that. (all lvls 1-4) One time while shopping around for new lvl 4 courier agents I got one that really annoyed me because he was offering one of the science skills that are only available as agent rewards but I had to turn it down. The shortest route was a total of 13 jumps one way, 5 through camp-infested low sec, and in my little bestower would have taken me 4 trips for a total of 91 jumps , 35 through low sec. I wish there was a third agent option: accept, decline and shove this mission up your...
As for the original question- manufacturing agents are my most reliable source of non-kill missions. Agents seem to have their own personality- some Admin agents I've used give a nice number of non-combat missions, some like a lvl 4 in my home area and with one of my main corps offered me a nice easy station maintaince the first time I talked to him; ever since then he not only offers nothing but kill missions (at least 25 in a row) but they are all (and I mean all) IO, Extrava's, RHoZazz and so forth. If I wanted kill missions I'd be sitting pretty, as he only offers the best, but I've given up even bothering to talk to him now since I can't tell him to shove it up his... That and because I recently accidentaly let one of his missions time out and got a nasty hit. (from around 9.5 down to 9.3 ) The font in the journal should change to red when you're down to the last day.
edit: updated number of jumps, I forgot about the return trips

Good point, I should have said, aren't SUPPOSED to send you more than 6 jumps. Two caveats:
(1) The mission might send you 5 jumps one way to fetch something, then 4 jumps the other way to deliver it. (2) The last time the gates were re-jigged, the agents didn't catch on to start with, and were sending people to a system that used to be 4 jumps, but is now about 18.
As far as I can tell, they've got it working properly again - but I don't do that much courier work. ________________________________________________

Legal agents give 95% kill and maybe 5% Courrier.
