I am not a programmer or graphic artist type person, but I suppose it has to do with the way textures are applied to the ships, in that they are not an adjustment of base color but an actual full-on texture applied, and that there is no option to just adjust the hue and saturation of a hull given the dynamic lighting and other graphical options in the game. yes it typically is a texture it does have various adjustments mostly relating to how light interacts with the texture, how much it reflects, what the base color is, what color it reflects and so-on. saturation is more a function of the ambient light, the more light the higher the saturation, hue is determined in the color choice (pick from a palette) Now there is the outside chance a graphics card will render it black if the card cant handle the advanced lighting. I'll have a better idea when I can actually see the ship Yep. Although I have to admit I haven't noticed ships becoming brown and black blobs on Sisi. Quite the contrary. I keep everything turned up though, perhaps it's an issue with lower shader settings that is making them look that way. If that's the case, they should address it if possible. Lower detail should not necessarily mean "all the same color".
most likely, if I have the CQ on my mirror is black because my gfx settings are turned down for performance only when I turn the heavy stuff on do I see my reflection
The American public's reaction to the change was poor and the new cola was a major marketing failure. The subsequent reintroduction of Coke's original formula, re-branded as "Coca-Cola Classic", resulted in a significant gain in sales, leading to speculation that the introduction of the New Coke formula was just a marketing ploy |

i find that the ships with any sort of green hue become dark blue in the lighting on sisi. i hope atmospheric lightning receives a bit of an adjustment. |

I think I read that they were still playing with various lighting effects and such, so there is hope. To kill the enemy and break their toys!

Acac Sunflyier wrote:So I really like a lot of Crucible. But, something is lost. All the gallente ships are turning black or black and brown. What's up with this? I mean yeah I know we are getting custom paint jobs. But I feel as if the ishkur is loosing something and something is wrong if we have to take an extra step to change the ishkur back to the green it was.
Dear CCP,
Is this all about custom pain jobs? If it is, please give the pain jobs to the players to build. Like there could be a blue print you can buy a batlte ship sized blue print called Intaki red. It produced "B.S. Intaki Red" and it can only be used on battleships and it can use PI materials too. Please don't leave the community in a dark shadow world and have to pay aur for color to be breathed onto their ships.
With Regards, Acac Sunflyier
I have to disagree, the default Gallente scheme is still the traditional green with some darker metallic parts.
Duvolle Labs is a dark gold and black metal, which looks pretty cool.
Roden Shipyards is a shiny red on dark metal, which is the same as on TQ right now.
CreDron has a really nice oily metallic effect going on, which shimmers green (CreoDron makes my favourite ships, and this colour scheme is the most badass in my opinion... so that makes me pretty damn happy).
Serpentis is looking good with the grey and black tiger stripe effect.
Oh and even the Navy ships look good now.
Also yes, all these ships are in the ship preview screen so of course in space they look slightly different, but not too much.
I agree though that the overall theme is darker, same with Caldari and I expect with Minnie and Amarr soon enough, but I like it a lot and combined with the new nebulae, EVE is looking very much more like the dark cold harsh space I signed up to. |

The same people who complained about how stupid 'space camo' was are now complaining that CCP listened to them and are making a more realistic representation of what ships of the future might look like.
I give this thread a double eye roll.

Never once complained about stupid space camo. Just mentioning that the ishkur was okay being green. And now it's black like the rest of them. |

I love the new colour scheme, especially the Deimos looks now more like it's old pre trinity version with it's dark bronze hull. |

Nope.

It can look black, in poor lighting, but it's actually a very dark metallic green. I like it, though I'd like it more if space was a bit brighter outside
I certainly like it a hell of a lot better than the green and white thing Creodron had going on before. |

Who are those people? I complained about the space camo and still will, even though CCP are going in the right direction by toning it down. The fact that they are putting it on the comet though is an unforgivable crime against gallente and more or less outweighs the entire hybrid buff. I demand the Cylon police comet!
