If you play and the client crash.
If you play, and your computer reboots suddenly.
If you have one char that plays just fine - and another that crashes to desktop as soon as you try to log in / warp / do anything in game.
I've experienced this - and managed to figure out why I had these problems.
You may have a disk-problem, of type "bad sector" - As soon as you do "stuff" in the game, EVE tries to store that information on your disk - and this may fail - the client will just Crash to desktop. - Or windows tries to change something in the "pagefile", stumbles upon a bad cluster and bluescreens / reboots.
This MAY affect only one character of yours - so dont assume your disk is okai only because the other character is working fine.
What you need to do
First we need to repair. 1. In Windows Explorer, find your C: drive. Right click on it and choose properties. Go to the "Tools" tab, click on the "Check now" button in the "Error checking" section. 2. Enable "Automatically fic file system errors" 3. Enable "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" 4. Windows may ask you if you want to do this on the next reboot, answer "Yes". (Do not reboot yet).
Repeat the steps 1-4 for D: / E: etc - if you have more than one drive. (No need to do it on your CD/DVD roms of course).
5. Reboot the computer, let the diskcheck run. (May take 10 minutes to 3-4 hours depending on your disks). 6. The computer reboots again when it's done. Find your EVE-folder by using Windows Explorer. Copy it and paste it back in the same place, but it will be name "Copy of EVE" or something similar. 7. Rename the original folder to "EVE.old" - and rename the new fresh one to the same name as the original had. (You just have to remove the words "Copy of" in the folder name).
Start up EVE - hopefully you've gotten rid of the problem.
If not, you should consider the following:
Funny graphics on screen? - You may have an overheat problem. Do something to clean your graphics adapter fan / better cooling. - You may have faulty memory. Maybe you can swap some of your memory chips (remove all but 1 of them). - You may have incorrect drivers. Find one of the 1000 threads on this forum about which drivers you should use.
Sudden crashes, but not diskrelated. - Try removing as many programs as you can from memory. Uninstall everything unnecessary on your computer, since so many programs can cause a conflict with Eve. A clean computer performs so much better with games. - Uninstall, and reinstall on a different location. Try another disk if you can. - How's your virus-status. Are you 150% sure that you have a clean computer?
Zooming out - everything zooms off screen / in the middle. - Classical problem related to DirectX and Teamspeak. You must switch mode for your soundsetup in Teamspeak. Go to the "options" menu in Teamspeak, on the sounddriver section switch to "Wave" mode instead of "Direct Sound"
I hope this helps some of you. ;)

- It's better to keep your mouth shut and let people believe your an idiot, rather than opening it and removing all doubt.

If that doesnĘt fix the issue,
You want to try reinstalling eve. (note: as all is stored online you wont lose anything)
if that doesnĘt fix the problem, try updating your graphics drivers.
You also might want to run a benchmark test to see your hardware is functioning as it should be.
Hope someone will find this useful.

I had thermic problems: EVE kept closing frequently (crash to desktop) until I opened my pc case. CPU temperature since then dropped by 10¦K and no more crashes...
