I've reflected on the previous day.
What happend do you say? Well I was sitting in Orvolle, in a fully t2 fit tempest w/ 1400mm II's, around 50km from a can which I placed a frig bpo in. I labeled this can "Free BPO" Once someone went up to it I locked them and in local said "Think ya can get it and get away before ya blow up?" and they said "Well its very tempting especially for a BPO" about that time, my finger slipped. It slipped on a certain button. That button was F5.
It was a fun day But I'm not upset or nothing because my insurance was going to run out in less than 3 days.
Other than that I made an uber logo thingy for meh corp, although I dont really know where we can use it since its way to big for the forums :) http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/5852/highestgm2.gif
So, what have you been up to the past 36 minutes?

bought X3:Reunion over steam overnight and it finished downloading at DT. ive spent the last 40 minutes wondering why the hell a game that claims to "be better than eve-online" is so frightfully crap that it actually makes me want to take the ú11 i spent on it and give it to a charity for healing sick insects (yes there is one, i just cant remember the name of it)

Pull back from the can, then warp to something behind it and grab the BPO just before entering warp. Be interesting to give it a go. ----------

yes, i paid to download a game, via steam. unlike most people, i actually prefer to purchase my games because developers deserve the money for the work they put into them. the game may be crap but there is still plenty of work in it. the only exceptions i take are on musicians, because i dont believe that a CD with 12 crap songs, and 1 good song is worth 10-15 quid just so that can sit around as millionaires paying other people to write songs for them. hence the 20GB mp3 collection. i do however buy the CDs of the bands i think deserve the money.
i even have a legal windows XP x64 edition.

FooB2 - when you get X3 over Steam does it install StarForce too? I refuse to let that evil malware near my pc :p
Originally by: Crumplecorn This post sounds like you paid to download a game. I presume I am missing something somewhere?
Yeah, it's available on Steam, Valve's online distribution channel.
As for what I've been doing during downtime, the same as usual, being at work

tell me how to check and ill tell you. to be honest the thought of it never even crossed my mind. when your on 64bit you tend to forget about these little back-alley programs that never seem to work anyway, which is always a good thing. for example, nProtect doesnt work on 64bit, and i know whatever copy protection X2 : The Threat uses doesnt work on 64bit either, because they releaed thier own noCD ***** for it so x64 users could play it.

Right-click on My Computer, select Properties and the Hardware tab. Enter the device manager, select View and select Show Hidden Devices. If you have Staforce, it will be listed under the Non-plug and play drivers tree - it'll be called "StarForce Protection".
Don't worry if it's too much hassle, I've heard so many bad things about X3 now that even if it is StarForce-less I may not bother

thanking the lord at this point in time....
STARFORCE IS NOT IN THE STEAM VERSION OF THE GAME
i actually played a little more and its not "that" bad. graphics are fairly stunning but it just seems a little "twingy" for my liking. dont ask me to describe what im saying.
i prefer X-wing vs TIE Fighter. i wish theyd release a new one of those. dogfighting is awesome multiplayer in anything. ive bought countless people i know copies of Crimson Skies and mailed them to them just so we can have a decent multiplayer game on it.

I soooo miss XvT multiplayer, used to love that, best pvp space game ever tbh. Never played Crimson Skies, was it X-Box only?

no, it was a PC release and its been on the XPLOSIV range for years now. you can pick it up for at most ú5 wherever you see it. my local has buckets of them in for ú2 each. hence me buying them for next to nothing and giving them away.
play.com has it bundled with combat flight sim for ú4.99 , or in a 3 for ú10 range. linked here
and is well worth it.

I agree that a select few developers do in fact deserve their money (incidentally, developers who use starforce are disqualified from that category, as are those who use steam). But I wouldn't buy something I can get for free. A downloaded game can be gotten for free. I buy shiny boxes with shiny disks. Ooh, shiny. Not 1's and 0's. And I would burn my computer before I let steam near it.
I presume however, that this game, unlike HL2, is actually a complete game when you download it? ----------

of course. unless its a hell of a 4.5GB demo. and the steam version doesnt use starforce anyway.
and i dont know what people have against steam, the idea is spot on, the games on it are very cheap and the amount of games available is large, and growing weekly. you always get access to updates as and when they come out, without having to screw about with filefront or fileplanet and other such stupid mirrors, and you (nearly) always get top speeds. or at least i do anyway.
and steam lets you backup the content onto disc anyway.

HL2 was crippled as it required steam to function, even if you went out and bought it offline. It was ages before an uncrippled version was released. ----------

HL2 was a steam game. I didn't even know steam had survived that fiasco.

Games you download do tend to be quite cheap. Buying an actual physical product FTW.

What an honor. Your very own CD-R/DVD-R copy of the game ----------

On the subject of X3.
It is a good game, the graphics are stunning and it is worth some time. It is quite different to Eve but I think it's a shame that people constantly try and crush a good game that contributes in a positive way to this small genre. I have no idea why people who want to play space games constantly feel the need to say how bad they are. If they don't sell, no more will be made. Now that X3 is fully patched it flows like silk on my system and is well worth a go despite what people say.
Just my thoughts.

X3 is pretty fun, I bought it about 9 months ago, installed it, didn't understand it, and uninstalled it. Reinstalled it last week for kicks, and after reading up and getting the hang of things, finally started playing
Don't think you can really compare it to EVE, other than the fact that they both have spaceships, and both take place in space... Worth checking out, but takes a bit to get into, since there isn't any tutorial (or at least, I couldn't find one.)
