I will my comment on instas too
I'd like to see some travelling mods introduced, reducing the travel times and helping blockade running.
1. a new high slot mod allowing closer warp in ranges but crippling your cpu and pg or whatever. My idea : when the mod is fitted -25% Cpu -25% Pg skill getting you 1km closer to gate for each level when the mod is fitted T1 mod 12,5km warp in (7,5km with max skill) T2 mod 10,0km warp in (5km with max skill)
2. a new mid slot module to counter webbers
Another thing that is bothering me :
When you jump into a system you don't know who's waiting at the other side. You cant check the map to see the last 30min number of pilots inside but well not really helping. And leaving a system is easy with instas and prior scanning the gate.
It should be the other way round. Leaving a system with blockades should be hard especially if not travel fitted. And entering easy and without danger.
I'd like to see random jump in points.
Maybe around planets? but i guess would take the pirating from gates to planets but spread over the system, most systems have alot of planets and a pirate camps can't be on each planet...
So the goal would be to decrease the travel time and danger for travel fitted ships(warp in mod, anti webber wcs), removing the thousands of bookmarks in everyones people and places and making the travel fitted ships hardly usable for anything else.
Thanks for reading and commenting

So every ship is FORCED to cripple themselves to do a necessary function? Nice. It dosn't even WORK for combat, you'll still die, and travel times will still be higher than today.
Further, scattering people across the system prevents a good deal of PvP because the targets will have scattered LONMG before you can rejoin then attack, if the targets have any form of firepower.
It fails the reasonable test on both combat and travel.
"Travel" (actually the universal REQUIRED) fit is slower and far elss capeable than today, ships are nerfed and still can't use the ability properly in combat and the situations you can engage in have been drastically nerfed.

Make the travel time longer and remove the insta bookmarks. Use Mwd or Afterburner.

Only the big ships that want to travel fast would have to cripple themselves for that purpose. I don't think a frig with MWD needs bookmarks anyway.
I guess if ccp wanted us to travel fast as you said we would have 0km warp in instead of 15km.
Instas is a player creater feature in this game. Giving a huge advantage to those that have em.
But in the end like Digiblast said. Just remove the bookmarks at gates and stations and use MWD and AB.
The major problem i see is jumping trough a gate and oups well it's camped, too bad. Should have logged my alt i have in the system before jumping. Or maybe a second account to have a permanent alt flying ahead. Is using an alt really how it's meant to be?
I think entering a system should have low risk and getting out of the system your choice to run a blocade or not.
Scatering people across the system? Well yes. It would give the planets a role. And if you want to gank someone with a big gang then at the gate when he tries to jump.
Getting caught at a planet would be bad luck i guess.

Edited by: Maya Rkell on 27/07/2006 17:55:35 A frig with a MWD still ABSOLUTELY needs those insta's.
It needs to be able to travel quickly. It needs to be abe to evade gate snipers, and to evade enemy ceptor hunting packs which will otherwise web and kill.
There is NO combat ship setup bar the 200km 0.4 sec pirate snipers who dosn't need to be able to insta.
Moreover, there are dozens of game systems and ships centered arround instas, and you need to dicuss how each one will work on detail in your change proposal (start with freighers and interdictors).
Handwavium dosn't help.
You're focusing entirely on the defensive implications of jumping in and utterly ignoring the equally important offensive ones. And yes, gates are arfiticial chokepoints designed to cause conflict. If the map WORKED, you'd not jump into blobs but people whined and got it broken.
Planets already have plenty of roles, from scansites to outpost locations and more.

If that would be the case that anyone needs those instas well then it would be very simple make it fair for all and give 0km warp in no bookmarks needed.
And the only way to stop someone is a bubble or sphere. Or tackle him on the other side of the gate before he can warp.
If that would be the case it would have been changed long ago. But it wasn't cause that's not how it's intended.

You're making unwarrented assumptions. If not changing is a strike against a particular syste, that also applies to yours, and the status quo is fine.
You can't have it both ways, or disciminate.

True a year has passed since Oveur stated that this almost invunlerabilite would have to change.
But it clearly states that it's not how it is intended. And that the will is there to change it. And many players seem to agree that instas can't stay the way they are right now. And this is an idea discussion forum. I'm giving my humble opinion on the matter. It's your right not to agree with me. But you seem to agress every player that gives his view on the matter.

I point out the flaws in the constantly repeated few idea, yes. Hopefully, one day an idea will come along that's good, the author will defend it against me and send me packing and it'll get implimented.
That day isn't today.

Now that's great LMAO
Good that the dev's have got you on this forum to fend off the tons of bad ideas all the players are throwing at em.
To sum up: I i'm not a pvp char. I'm mostly a trader and mission runner (in 0.0 space). So bm's help me atm. But i see that an insta to the gate is not fair for those that want to camp it. I should be flying to that gate before jumping. Or just take another gate out if i think i can't run that blockade. On the other side i don't want to jump into a system to end up in bubble and camp that i didn't know off cause i didn't have an alt.
I don't think i'm so wrong with it.

Maya I'm going to ask you one Quistion.
Since it is important for some ships if not all, to use insta bookmarks to gates because of snipers and etc.. So whats wrong with the Idea to remove all bookmark from gates/stations and make it able to warp jump range. ... And don't say it will hurt the bookmark seller's

TOO easy. I favout an idea which comes down to a limited number of 0km warps stored. You have to make tradeoffs and choices what to carry...
Rhal,
"But i see that an insta to the gate is not fair for those that want to camp it."
0.0? BUBBLE. They're cheaper than a cruiser, even. Or an interdictor. There are PLENTY of options in 0.0 space for people who are even slightly proactive to trap you. They don't need to automatically do so.

Let's say ccp has to get rid of many of the bookmarks because of they are making EvE lag.
So the best thing to get rid of them should be taking insta from stations and Gates.
Just by doing that whould atleast take 2/3 of the bookmark's that are in the game. If not More.
Some places I have 2 -3 sets of bookmarks both wayes.

There is no proof of the first now BM's are lower copy priority, and the obvious answer is corp bookmarks, not trashing everyones with no replacement. A mechanically very similar system with far lower total BM numbers.

Oveur showed us what was lagging the game and Bookmark was one of them. PLayers that have been playing since Beta surly have noticed that Bm's have laggy affect on the game. If that isent proof then I don't know what is.
And by removeing bookmarks from Gates and stations whould lower the bm's numbers per player by far.

At the time, yes. Pre-RAMSAN. Pre-lower BM copy prority. This isn't the same situation.
You can't make that sort of assumption.
And yes, it'd lower the number. Your point? It dosn't address a single one of the issues.

I just read the Oveur's post about the instabookmarks.
And I must say It's kinda one of the most crap I have seen. They say they want to get rid of the bm's(instas) but stil wana keep the fast travel.
By reading that there just comes one thing solution in my mind: And that is 2 have a insta warp to gates. Then New players will only leave after missing theyr ship on the other side after lossing theyr first ship. But we keep the fast travel and can delete some bookmarks.

He sais they want to keep the fast travel but at a cost.
The answer is mods. Like you fit a wcs to avoid getting scrambled by a single ship, or smartbomb to get rid of drones or a tracking computer to be able to hit with arts or a microwarp drive or a scrambler. For every effect you have a mod. You want an effect you have to fit the mod.
Why not having blockade running mods. I agree that a webber will keep you from runing a blockade if you don't have an insta. Give us a mod that will neget a a webber like wcs do with scramblers.
Make us fight (tank hold on and pray) to get trough that damn gate. But once we do reach the jump range well you can smile give the camp the finger and jump to safty.
What Mayar Kell wants is keeping her safty from sniper and tacklers and telling people to put camp behind a gate !
Behind the gate should not be were the danger lies !

Rail Kyrox, no, YOUR answer is mods.
They are a necessary core game function, so subtract the slots from all ships and let people warp to 0km, it's easier and penalises only the snipers who sit in one system all day.
Nothing else you mention is a core game function, and they ALL have multiple alternaties.
Negating webbers? Yes, please screw over close range and smaller ships... (sigh)
Giving snipers and griefPK's all they want is NOT the answer. Making it suicide to jump in with a fleet and to attack in a coordernated maner is NOT the answer.

I`m sure the snipers will find a way to snipe u anyway.
They will just use Mobile warp disrutpors and interdictors. Like they already do today.
