I have seen plenty of pvp setups for prophecys but i have never heard of people pirating in them and all of the videos with prophecys in them usually have the prophecys getting blown up  Is it not any good for pvp?

I dunno, but they have one hell of a tank, that can be hard for solo cruisers to break. I should know, my rax almost got pwned by a proph I tried to pirate, I ended up having to run  lucky for me he didn't have a warp scram cuz I don't fit stabs

Prophecy's are kinda slow, which is why they aren't that awesome at piracy...however, Prophecy's are great tankers. So they are very useful for low sec ops when you will need to tank sentries. A group of a couple prophecies can tank the sentries for a very long time.

I gank in low sec all the time with an autoproph. I'll cheerfully take on any two cruisers (as long as one's not a blackbird  ) at once since my tank is super strong.

Pirating in a prophecy is viable but you have to keep in mind the sheer mass of the prophecy. Because it moves like a wounded cow you have to reduce some of your tanking for MWD speed or bring a friend to tackle. Granted... once you have your victim tackled for you a vanguard-design (full out damage) prophecy is just nasty.

It still isn't fast enough to remain manuverable against many target variations. In a singular fight if you land within 15k to a singluar ship, sure. But if that ship warps off or moves faster than your prophecy (peice of cake) then you are stuck. A sitting prophecy with an AB is worse than not warping in at all.
Tacklers make or break prophecies, or you risk a MWD. I know you can solo with it, ut you lose out on far too many opprotunities and there are far too many risks. Unless they come after you, and then it isn't your brilliant setup that made you win but their lack of intelligence and desire to kill themselves.

I've acutally seen a fair few 280 howwie prophecies kicking about... since projectiles now use no cap, they're kind of effective... in a wierd screwed up way if you have good enginering and projectile gunnery skills.

Everyone always hates my setups, but they seem to work for those that use them (projectile prophecy). I agree with hippo completely on this one.

I prefer 220s over howitzers myself. Great DPS and they're a lot better at chewing up cruisers.

I love prophecys for pvp, they can fit an awesome tank and with 3 med nos and dual reps and decent skills they can kill most turret hacs...
