There really is no need for drones to attempt to 'think' of their own. Please remove that (or at least give us an option to) and just have them return to our ship once their current target is dead, just like it was before RMR when you were in a gang.
It really does not help at all to have 5 drones attacking 5 different targets after their assigned target got destroyed. And it kinda hurts when one of the cleverly selected new targets causes a whole mission stage to aggro because you left your drones without explicit orders for a split second.
So please, no more 'smart' drones. They're about as smart as smartbombs... --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! Link removed due to bad language on remote site. -wystler

I cant argue with drones ok what your sugesting might be nice but any more changes and we'll get the problem of them not coming back at all or just following you like last time.
I can live with drones the way they are please dont change them. Plus i love the drone aumentation unit and its stacking.

Edited by: Mastin Dragonfly on 28/07/2006 12:50:49 I can see victims of ECM disagree with that idea. Having them collectively decide on one target would be nice though.

My drones seem to do this ALL the time. I think it's caused by drones running into each other and slowing down a lot on their path back to the ship.
I also agree that drones should not "remember" hostiles or "attack hostiles" unless ordered to. The ECM bit doesn't matter when you have like 5 different people shooting at you and each drone goes after a different target heh. ---

Edited by: nahtoh on 28/07/2006 14:12:38 them not attacking strtures by themselves anymore is good...I really don't want to go back to that.
I really don't like the idea of them needing a attack order before they do anything mind you...
I would really really really like a hotkey for triggering drone attacks...thats the most annoying thing for me ATM. ========= "I am not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why can`t we just take the safety labels off everything and let the problem fix its self |

I think the best thing they could do to drones right now would be to havet them act as a single entity (i.e. all attacking the same target unless for some reason you specifically tell them not to).

Edit: A hotkey really is needed too, to help avoid the interface lag and time lost that occurs when using the drone menu. It should also preferably be something aside from CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+TAB+PGUP+END+INS+PGDOWN+F9, or configurable therein.
While we're on that subject, I think the whole interface in general needs more customizable hotkeys, instead of the limited choices given. (I.E. let me set my max speed with a hotkey so I can stop clicking that tiny little triangle excessively!)

I don't have much to say, other than I agree with the targeting issue, and the need for a hotkey. Actually, I was hoping that there was a hotkey, and I just hadn't found it yet.

I do agree that drones should attack the same next target after the primary is destroyed. If the ship has locked targets, it should select the closest of them as next target, unless told otherwise.
Should work decently.
