Like the title says, this may seem like a dumb question. When you route from your Extractor to your Basic Facility it will give a large amount that will then change to a default amount (3000) that the Basic Facility can take. Well, I never gave it a second though until I took another look and saw I still had a large amount to be routed from the Extractor. Do you keep routing it over and over to the Basic Facility until there is no more to route? (which is a hell of a lot of mouse clicks)

Anyway and advise would be greatly appreciated. |

Route it through a launch pad or silo then from there to the factories, they hold excess (the LP/Silo) and only shunt off whats required by the factories. |

Something just isnt clicking for me here. Once I route it to the LP do I then continue to route until I cannot route anymore to the basic facility? Thats really going to dog my links so much that I probaly will run out of power before I can get'em all upgraded. I have everything at lvl4 in planetology
Pic with explanation of my misundestanding here. |

what you do is route it to the Launch Pad.
Then once the PHYSICAL (well...electric but lets not split hairs) is present at the LP, route THAT from the LP to the factory, NOT from the extractor via the LP to the Factory (as it doesn't actually drop off at the LP, just passes through and thus you get the wastage).
here is roughly how to do it:
Route to LP:
Extractor > LP
From LP to Factory:
LP > Factory
Final result:
Extractor > LP > Factory
What not to do:
Extractor > Factory
or
Extractor > (passes through LP, but not drop off there) > Factory (results in excess being wasted)
I hope that helps. If it didn't when I get home tonight i'll do some SS's to show what I'm meaning. |

easiest way to do it is , route eveything to a lp from the extractor. now set up as many factories as you can as close to the lp as possible, only connect a max of 3 factories thru 1 link to the lp and it wont overload. now route the product to each factory only once, now route finished product to lp and all done. you probly will have to upgrade the link from extractor to lp so keep them as close as possible. |

Route to LP:
(EDIT)
And YES, you have to route FROM that Storage or LP to EACH factory separately at first.
There is a second way of routing to 'each' factory that requires th P0 (or whichever) product to already BE in the Storage or LP.....but this is already getting way tooo exhaustive.
Just google a bit of research like we ALL do.

I could not have stated it better. In Low Sec, usually winds up being 2 ECUs feeding 6 - 10 basic Factories depending on P0.

Thanks for all the advise everybody, very helpful and I see where I been making my mistake (mostly just confused about the routing details)
I been watching tons of vids and read many of the articles on EVEUNI/WIKI youtube. I just needed a little more explaining for the details. Thanks again |

Confirming your doing it wrong.
I can't help you reduce my PI profits, but apart from looking like a like a logistical nightmare, your getting the idea.
Try extractor to warehouse to factory to launch pad. Launch pad to tier 2 factory and back.
Don't forget to upgrade the line between extractor and warehouse if needed. |

**Update**
Fixed now and working as intended. I think I have a very efficient setup now and there is a nice buffer running on each of my 5 colonies. Efficent colony . My only mistake that needs correcting is my poor choice of P2 commodities for 2 of my colonies as there isn't much of a market for polytextiles/fertilizer where I'm at. Live and learn I guess.
This may come to a surprise but I'm a good 40 or 50 mil in the hole for PI experimenting due to poor planning, tearing stuff down and rebuilding. Not to mention the losses due to carelessness in nullsec when I was first getting setup and checking out different locations. Now that I found a decent area I can start getting some of my money back and turn a profit (eventually lol).
Thanks again. |
