I've been playing EVE for about 2 years, I have about 1 billion isk now, all made by mission running, mining, trading, playing the game. Some of it was pretty boring, it felt like a grind at times. Now complete newbies can spend a little bit of real-life cash and make, in a matter of days, more than I made in 2 years of playing. That makes me feel like I've wasted my time playing this game. It devalues what I've done. I used to be quite pleased that I'd managed to make a billion isk, now I feel like an idiot for wasting my time and am on the point of cancelling my account to play something else. GTC sales for isk are killing EVE and driving people away from the game. If that's what CCP want then OK, bye bye.

spurious signal Caldari	Posted - 2006.07.30 07:24:00 - [63] From what I've read in various places I'd guess that the majority of the large-volume GTC sellers are involved in organised crime in one way or another. Stolen credit cards are the usual vehicle for this kind of RMT (real money transfers) abue in other MMORPGs. It's a form of money laundering - credit cards (or just numbers) are stolen, used to buy GTCs, GTCs sold for isk, isk sold on ebay. CCP condone and legitimise this by not only allowing but protecting GTC sales. Coupled with character sales this means that there's no longer any correlation between a player's behaviour in-game and their reputation. You can use your "main" to commit scams, corp-thefts, etc, then simply sell the character and buy a new one to repeat the whole process. IMO GTC sales and character transfers have broken EVE.

So Chill out I am actually agreeing with you in any case. You could give someone every skill at level 5, if they've just started playing, they're still going to get smoked by a vet. Lack of SPs is not what makes someone a newbie. They can buy a 40mil SP char, they'll still be a newbie. They can buy a few BPOs, they're still a newbie. BUT They're a newbie with far more power than any new player should EVER have on ANY game.

I will now tell you the truth behind this total farce. It was very clear from an interview Mr Richardson was involved in that ccp indeed wanted to exploit the market for outgame sales for ingame items, however seeing what happened with sony and their sony station... ccp knew exactly what they couldn't do... players simpley revolted against it. Cue timecards for isk. All the benfits of the above and some..... Sadly ofcourse the people that suffer in the process are the legitimate players who just want to play the game. Bottom line. People that accuire these timecodes from isk buyers are no better than macro'ers (im sorry but thats the truth... you are farming isk to sell to an isk buyer because you gain finanicaly from it. People that buy these timecodes to sell here, they are nothing but lowlife cheats.
