You know that I wouldn't mind so much if I could insure my HAC's for almost as much as they cost me?
I mean, what's fun about flying a Deimos (after all the funky training time it takes to get it and full t2 gear) when ANY idiot with a BS and a few heavy nos has beaten me even before the fight starts? Can't get into range or nossed. If nossed, dead. If dead, kiss goodbye to several hundred million uninsured isk.
So your bs gets blasted? Oh looky, insurance money.
But to get to the real point, which has been made several times before, nos ARE overpowered when used against smaller ships types, period. In pvp, you SHOULD be encouraged to fly in balanced groups. Enemy bringing 'ceptors? Better bring your own, some Harpies, or a BC specifically set up to kill frigs then. Can't be bothered to work as a team? Better get used to losing lots of ships.
Massively MULTIPLAYER online GAME. The second and fourth words are important see? The first one for the reasons outlined above, the second one, GAME because that's what this is. In football (or 'soccer' as the heathens call it :P) the goalkeeper is the only one allowed to use his hands, but only inside the penalty area. Why can't the other players use their hands? They've got them, it's unrealistic surely? Because then it would be easy to score, pick up ball, run to net, throw ball into net. No fun. Same thing applies to 'keepers not being able to handle outside the box.
Back on topic, the two ideas I like, are signature based draining; makes it more in line with missiles = sure, you can kill a frig with missiles if it has no tank but i's gonna take a while and hey, if that frig can break your tank then you really, really suck. Same with sig based nos, sure, you can affect his cap, but it's gonna take ages to drain it (you might only get it down to a certain level before regen stops the drain). If there's ten of the little bleeders, where are YOUR wingmen huh?
And even sig based, it's still an advantage. Used in combination with weapons, drones, ECM etc all those 'little' advantages build up.
The other one I like is the idea where NOS affects cap regen rates, in practice it's another way of achieving the same effect without just saying, "sod it, tying everything to sig solves everything" and also puts inties at a disadvantage over things like, hmmm, assault ships (that SHOULD be better at attacking a bs than an interceptor).
Just my thoughts, I'm not a dev or anthing so no real point flaming me 'cos I won't care :p "I got soul but I'm not a soldier" |
