Having spent my time (1yr) in a Raven using cruise launcher 2's for lvl4 since they allow pwnage of both bs, cruisers and (if needed... takes a bit of time) frigs while doing missions. Now I feel like a n00b since I'm probably going to be switching to rails but lack clue.
Now need to train up for the Rokh. Since it doesn't sound like it'll have as many launcher points as a Raven what to do about missioning? Could stick with the raven but the Rokh tank looks very interesting (loved my Ferox resists...)
How do mission runners who aren't Caldari cope with cruisers and frigs? If I went for the 8 x 425mm route then I could see me having no problem with bs but cruisers with 90% resists and (in emergencies) frigs would be much harder to kill. So would a 4 cruise/4 rails be better, or what?

Hmm that same way any other long range BS does tbh. Caldari have small drone bays but i believe it still has one. 5 light or 5 meds t2 will easily deal with frigs on a lvl 4 mission and you should be able to track cruisers easily enough provided you take them out in ure optimal. Raven might still be a better option for your missions on the basis you can fit a tank and not bork your hi slots since all you need on a raven weapons wise is launchers no support modules for them. With rails you really need to devote some meds to tracking comps or target painters. Plus caldari usually have absolutly rubbish PG and 425 t2 are gonna hurt it hard. Its quite hard to speculate atm without seeing the rest of the stats how you should really fit it. But mixing cruise/rails like that when it has no missile bonus could be like fitting out the old typhoon... *crap* :p

Why change, none of these new ships look likely to come anywhere close to beating its npc'ing crown.

Its called fun If your not having fun whats the point. I've recently switched from Gist B-Type Raven tank (1 billion isk setup) to a moderately expensive Machariel setup (300 million isk setup) and im loving every second of it, if even if it takes me a little longer to kill the enemy battleships. Cruiser and battlecruisers just melt as my 1200 scout volley damage is greater than a cruise missile volley and fire just as fast.
As for cruisers and frigs. If they start at long range i'll snipe the cruisers first with my 1200 scouts. Since i run missions against serpentis and sometimes amarr navy almost all interceptors orbit within 6'750m so my two shadow serpentis thermal smartbombs can take all of them out.
If all npc's start at close range then i fit 800mm scouts and i can hit all destroyers, cruisers and battlecruisers down to about 5km. and kill em off fast, with the smarties for frigs still.
I use a PWNAGE Target Painter and Shadow Serp Tracking Computer on my setup at all times as both of them drastically improve my chance of hitting and the damage dealt per hit.
For your Rokh, you might find that 350mm rails and a target painter will serve you better for long range since they fire faster, track better and the target painter makes you do good damage still. As for frigs, if you cant afford faction/officer smarties with the range required to take em out, youll either have to snipe em before they get close or take out everything else to reduce your tanking required then release drones. ----------------------------------- HaHaHa! I think you have both options actually :
- Raven will still be on top of the ladder for missioning in Deadspace. - Rokh could actually be more employed on open space missions where you can easily snipe the rats. BUT the bad side of this is you would stick with Kine/Thermal damage, while Raven can switch to the best damage wise missiles.
But I personnally think I'll go for a Rokh on those open space missions, just to get some fun and not to get my arse always in a Raven, which is pretty boring missioning a whole day... ( did it some time ago... 160k LP in 1.5 days chaining... ok worth it but tiring ) _________________________________________

Here is my tip [and yes im getting the Rokh too].
Fit 6 nice hybrids for medium range and fit 2 short range blasters for short range or just use drones and fir tractor beams instead for loot can collecting.
Oh just want to say i LOVE tractor beams. -----------------------------------------------

5 small drones with fairly good skills(not T2) can handle the frigs in most all lvl 4 missions.
Wherever you went - here you are.

Question is, will we see all the new noobs in rohks now instead of ravens...
I think so.

Probably wont Raven is so stupid easy to train and use compared to turret ships i doubt you'll see any newer players succesfully using a rohk for a while. -------- Kill em all and let god sort em out

Not for long. Unless ppl decide to use the missile hardpoints for a ferox-like abomination. -

You both have good points there. Even if they decide to go with t1 large guns, it would probably be faster and more efficient to train up torpedoes and just spam away.

Missiles are the ultimate nub weapon and Raven is the ultimate nubboat. I don't see agent runners switching to large rails even if their agent payout was 50% larger.
Missiles really need another nerf.

DonŠt know about the missiles but move all lv3 agents to lowsec and lv4 to 0.0. -

Yeah, just like today then... with the main difference being that the rokh should be able to tank much harder due to free non-stacking invuln and (possibly) extra mid giving more tank slots. Not too fussed about losing the missile ROF bonus - with more slots I don't mind using another for a bcs if I can get decent missile spammage. If only 4 slots though then things become more interesting.
Thanks to others for reminding me that damage types are fixed with rails. Missiles FTW! At least, would be if enough missile slots on this railbox (Ferox FTW!)
