Originally by: kieron We allowed the trade of ISK for Game Time as an extension of the policy allowing the trade of ISK for game related services like TS server rental, forum signatures, etc. When we discussed allowing the trade of ISK for Game Time, the thought that we were inadvertently allowing the 'sale of ISK for RL cash' didn't occur to us. The decision to allow the trade was not profit driven.
When Sony came out with their microcharge servers (sale of game items for RL cash), the internal CCP discussion lasted about 2 minutes. The discussion about Second Life's business model lasted longer, but the results of the discussions were the same. We do not have, nor do we want to have, the ability to clone Tranquility and start up a microcharge server.
We've discussed changing the police on allowing the trade of ISK for Game Time a number of times. For the time being, the policy is going to stay as it is. Just like the macro miner/ISK farmer issue, we don't have the manpower or resources to police a policy disallowing trades of this nature. We will re-open discussion on this issue again.
In a nutshell, we tried to be nice and do something for the benefit of the players. Some players turned this around to where it backfired on us.
So what you are saying is the main reason you continue to allow people to sell GTC for isk is because you dont have the manpower to enforce it, just like macromining/isk farming, but isk farming and macromining are indeed disallowed, yet you claim you cant enforce it.
Basically, you claim you cant enforce all three of them, isk farming/macro mining are disallowed and GTC for isk is allowed, and yet you claim its not profit driven?

I'd rather the cash goes into CCP's pocket than an ebayers.
You have to be pragmatic rather that totally idealistic.

How is it possible to not post a locked thread when every single post about timecodes for isk is locked immediately for some reason or not (unless your selling timecodes, then ccp doesn't mind, they get $$$)
Want to discuss the pluses and minuses of timecodes for isk? No no no, thats bad, we dont want people to see anything wrong with the system so lets bar all discussion on the subject.

Right, there's this button. It says "New Topic".
Try NOT pressing it. I hear that has very good reviews at the moment. Less popular, but still effective is to press the button, and then talk about something other than timecodes. ECM, tier3 battleships, goon vs BoB, macrominers and the size of the poster's internet ***** are all common topics.

the whole reason that ebaying is a bannable action is because so many players are against it, for the reason that most players are fully against people being able to use out of game money to buy there way through the game, with good reason. i'd bet a large sum that ccp have made the problem ten times worse, theres probably more people buying isk now than ever before.

There've been plenty of discussions on the merit of isk for gtc in the past.
There's no need for more, nothing you are saying hasn't been said before. Nor do I rate the chances of any otherwise new argument cropping up very high.
Which leaves me to say that you are wrong. If you want to know why, use eve-search.

I think im about ready to give up on this subject anyway, its clear that ccp dont even care, they want the extra subs now, they allow it because they can make some extra quick cash, ccp have sold out at the cost of the game itself and most people dont even realise this, eventually it will have a big enough impact for people to notice and by then its going to be to late, im very sad to see a game i love go down the drain like this, it was totally unexpected. i just wish i knew about this before i started playing.

you seem pretty ****ed of about all of this, if ccp stopped gametime cards for isk would it put a damper in your plans?

Also, for my context in this: I'd rather CCP didn't allow players to buy ISK for cash, but at the moment, I play eve for free (paying with ISK 4tw), and that makes me happy. Wouldn't be too ****ed off if I had to pay with real cash, but I would only run one account.

Secondly ATM it doesn't bloody matter you can't pay with a credit card atm.. So if people want to keep their accounts they need to buy GTC's... So yeh stfu :)
There has been a bug in the system last 2 days on the billing site/char transfer sections.

I'm sorry but you are wrong.
You may have the "moral" highground, it doesn't take what you say correct.
Ebaying was banned in the EULA so people other than CCP don't make cash off EVE.
Whats that?...Profit motive!

But deja, you know what people are doing, there buying up timecodes for isk and reselling for cash.
CCP are abreast of this ofc, hence the sticky up top.
It's not said as in many words, but it translates to 'buy from us, not the other guy abusing the system we created.
CCP can't realy be honest on the situation now, it's gone too far... the games turned into that market place for traders (gtc companies flooding inboxes saying hey buy these make isk legaly) CCP's own head gm told us this would not be allowed to happen.
Linkage
And apprantly (according to that blog) it is CCP and there moderation team that takes the morale highground on the players behalf.
I think thats why there is anger.. there is simpley NO justication after reading that blog
