Suggestion: Make star dynamically change size and brightness as you fly closer to / further from it when warping through a system. Keywords: sun, star, size
Maybe there's something I'm missing or my eyes are malfunctioning but I don't think this has been implemented as yet. As I warp past planets they grow very large in size (because I'm moving closer to them) and then become smaller again (as I move further away from them in the same warp) - looks great
The star in each system doesn't appear to behave as planets do. As I warp from, lets say a planet near a star to a spot far away on the edge of the same solar system, I would expect the size and brightness of the star to diminish (and vice versa for travel in the other direction).
I know I can warp directly to a star and park there and probably my distance from the star at this point is greater than my distance from the planets I described above but I'm not seeing much change in the star's brightness as I move and very little in term of the star's size until I'm right on top of it (may be due to my rubbish graphics settings?!)
By the way, I love the new lens effects for the stars in each system. |

I think I see what you are talking about. The overall light level of space in Eve close to a star is no more or less than when observed from a location say 50 or more AU further away, and the star's appearance does not change even minutely, getting brighter or dimmer, to reflect even huge differences in the observer's proximity to the star. Is that what you are pointing out?
If so, I'm actually rather interested in the idea of dynamic light levels depending on how close or far from the star you are. The big question is, can it be done in a reasonable development timeframe and without running the risk of any graphical issues/glitches/problems?
+1, I like it. |

This is on the art team's to-do list already, stuck behind the requisite engine/technology work required to make it possible. |

Yup, spot on Sobaan.
I guess there are limits too - we can't dim the sun so much as you would expect to be realistic as this would make your ship barely visible and conversely, flying relatively close to the sun would mean that the entire scene becomes bleached and difficult to interpret.
"Make the effects totally realistic - then make them less realistic until they become workable". Bit like database normalisation...if you get my drift. |

It does change a bit but only at extremes - when your close you get the 3D model, at most other ranges the flare effect version I seem to recall it does get smaller if your out at super deep safes >50au but its awhile ago so I might be remembering incorrectly. |
