Hey all,
I am just wondering what your pick is for the TOP FRIGATE, any race, that can be used for agent missions, and why:
Preferrably it should have decent cargo space, good speed, good armament and have at least one turret available for a mining laser.
I have a few ideas myself, but I want to know what the experts think.
Thanks in advance.

You will need 2 ships, if you can fit a mwd on a punisher do that and you got yourself a nice ship for fighting/moving small cargo. If you cannot do that take a vigil, 3 abs 3 overdrives and you go over 1700 m/s without much nav skills. That still leaves cargo missions, I would sat that the best frigate for that is the probe.
The vigil/probe combo will do fine for all lvl2 missions and if you got good expanders you might be able to use them for the large cargo moving missions you get when using lvl3 agents.
Though this still leaves the point you cant take a 50k rat out with a frigate (and remember if you take along friends you will be facing more 50k's). -------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs

"Though this still leaves the point you cant take a 50k rat out with a frigate"
Sure you can.
re: the original subject; wrote that in another thread i think, but... Kestrel -- 300/400 m3 of cargo space, moves at 1.2k speed with 3 afb's, has enough firepower to deal with all combat missions agents currently dish out.
edit: it has no turret hard point though, so no good for mining... but being i simply buy the minerals off the market to save time i couldn't care less. :s

This is not true any more. This has been fixed so no longer will multiple 50k pirates spawn according to how many friends you bring along.

Edited by: slothe on 08/10/2003 22:03:55 npc hunting - merlin, tristan, punisher all kick ass.
as for pvp - there is only one - kestrel- kicks utter ass
all round agent mission ships probably merlin or tristan.

i recommend an INDY for agent missions. Just keep a combat frigate nearby for the occasional kill mission. Linkage |

Well, for level 3 missions the highest load I have been requested to move was nearly 600 cargo space wise, and there are damn few if any frigates that can cope with 550+ even with pirate drop expanders, possibly the Probe, its a good versatile ship and would be able to handle any of the ships you encounter in Level 1 and Level 2 missions and cope with cargo runs for level 3 (which are the bulk of them).
FOr level 3 though I'd recommend a good cruiser to be honest.

Stop playing single player Eve?
As for a top frigate for fighting? There is none.
Kestrel = missiles Rifter = speed + firepower Vigil = speed + EW Griffin = lots of EW Punisher = 3 mining lasers Merlin = mixed firepower + EW (nice 150 CPU)
I'd say they were my top frigates.
Peace and love x

gotta vote for the griffin on this great ew and you can load it with cruise missiles if you have the skills to run them...

While I currently have a Tristan (they just look so cool :)) I think the Merlin is nicer for going after NPC pirates. Two lasers and two missile ramps, and you'll take apart large pirate nests on your own.

I really can't believe noone has mentioned the Maulus for EW, its probably the best gallante frigate for that.
tristans and merlins get my vote :)
tristan is better (With one less launcher point you usually have more power left for the mids) plus it has drones (2miner1's & 2basic miners are a nice combo)
Both the merlin and tristan have average cargo (140ish)
supprisingly I noticed that the merlin also gets the gallante bonus to rail damage Making it a very nice option to kill things with(plus we sell them ) Your Anode Light Neutron Particle Cannon I perfectly strikes Serpentis Smuggler, wrecking for 218.0 damage.

Hehehe... when Shevar said that, I just knew for sure that the next reply would be j0sephine taking the opportunity to tell us about her mighty Kestrel

The Kestral, though expensive to operate for an indipendent is a great frigate. The Rifter with 2 launchers and 2 250mm's is also a great choice.
Either free the slaves or we will come and get them.
