I'm guessing that this thread is being posted in relation to your recent loss of roughly a billion ISK being hauled by an Iteron V. Instead of calling to remove PvP from a PvP game, you should take this as a learning experience:
1. Hisec is not safe. It is "safer". Plan all in-space activities accordingly. 2. Don't ever put a billion ISK worth of cargo into a million ISK hull. Ever. Just don't. Don't even think about it. You may as well paint a giant target on your ship and announce your desire to be ganked in Local. 3. If you must haul expensive goods, consider breaking the hauling up into multiple smaller loads. Doing so makes you an exponentially less possible target because you are less worth the risk, and because you can likely be in a much more mobile or well-tanked ship. Splitting your load of Quantum Microprocessors up into thirds would have allowed you to haul them in a nimble Nereus instead of a slow Iteron V. (EDIT: But even this would have been a bad idea overall because you'd still be overloading a fragile hull with expensive goods. A Blockade runner would have been a much better choice.) 4. Don't autopilot. Ever. I don't know if you were autopiloting at the time of your loss or not, but it's still important to know.
EvE is a PvP game. If you want to play, be prepared to PvP even if you don't want to. CCP Falcon's thoughts on suicide ganking. Reading Comprehension: a skill so important it deserves it's own skillbook. I want to create content, not become content. |

Benton Risalo wrote:I don't know about everyone else, but I know that I'm not alone in this. You're not alone in this. But just like the others who say the same, you're also very much wrong. Over time you'll learn why (hopefully).
Benton Risalo wrote:I'm tired of having my ships destroyed in high sec while I'm carrying expensive goods. Then maybe you should start asking yourself: "What can *I* do to prevent that? The ten haulers that passed the gate before me did not get blown up, why me then?". Once you start asking these questions and stop blaming the game for everything, you're halfway there! Which brings me to your next point:
Benton Risalo wrote:I'm tired of not being able to retaliate against people like the agents of New Order because I lack the isk, guns, and skills to do so. You're tired of it, great (seriously)! This should give you enough motivation to start investigating: - why your recent loss happened - how to minimize the risk of getting your stuff blown up in the future - how to retaliate against gankers or even prevent them from blowing others up
You'll learn that you can already start going after gankers in a cheap T1 frigate with cheap T1 modules with just a few hours worth of skills.
You'll eventually learn that the most important things in this game are not ISK, not guns and not skills: it's learning how game mechanics work (details matter!), how to use them to your advantage and - making friends.

Right, first of, the OP has the right to post an idea*) to discuss and has the right to expect a civil and healthy discussion as a result. You don't have to agree, but post your arguments in a civil manner please.
That said, I have removed some rule breaking posts and those quoting them. As always I let some edge cases stay.
The Rules: 4. Personal attacks are prohibited.
Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another forum user. Posts of this nature are not beneficial to the community spirit that CCP promote and as such they will not be tolerated.
5. Trolling is prohibited.
Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.
27. Off-topic posting is prohibited.
Off-topic posting is permitted within reason, as sometimes a single comment may color or lighten the tone of discussion. However, excessive posting of off-topic remarks in an attempt to derail a thread may result in the thread being locked, or a forum warning being issued to the off-topic poster.

I despise High Sec PVPers. Gankers are utter garbage, talentless fools who couldn't fight a real ship that shot back. CODE is probably the worst alliance in EVE. Those wardeccing corps like Marmite that have to pay to shoot someone without CONCORDOKKEN, and are so smug about killing your shiny ship. I hate that playstyle, I think they are cheap and lame and pretty cowardly compared to what I've gone up against (Flying around in a Condor against the full might of the CFC is among the worst of my decisions, but I did live).
However, OP
These play styles are part of the game, they are legitimate and unfair in the EVE way, not the overpowered and unbalanced way. They serve their purpose, and at times those who are part of them can be a little... well... snobby about it (In my experience), they are part of EVE and help make EVE what it is

It is becoming clear to me that a lot of people are now playing MMOs who have no idea what "Trammel" is or what it did to Ultima Online. So for those people, let me leave something educational in this thread:
Ultima Online was a PvP-based MMO. You could kill or be killed anywhere - in town, the guards would come for you right quick, but outside of towns no guards would come. The only thing that happened was some infamy, which certain players enjoyed and took pride in. As I understand it, some of the original developers of EVE were in fact quite high in infamy indeed.
Death was harsh - you lost all your stuff when you died/were killed, as I recall. You could get it back, but only if someone else hadn't looted it from your corpse first.
Then one day, for reasons unknown to me, the company behind Ultima Online introduced "Trammel", an alternate universe of sorts where PvP was disabled. They thought that the hardcore players would stay in the normal world while the carebears would go to Trammel and that both places would exist harmoniously and successfully.
It was, in fact, quite literally the death of that game.
So if you think that EVE Online needs to be Trammelized as well - and I say this as a highsec dweller who is terrible at PvP and just wants to do his own thing - ... well, you can kindly go bugger yourself in the arse with a hot fireplace poker, and then GTFO my cutthroat savagery-game, please. Unfortunately, EVE isn't the game for you and it's time to admit it to yourself.
Also, my pizzas were delicious. I actually still have one of them for later. |

Please only open such threads with the losskillmail would be interested.
PVP in highsec is one of the few things which stable the market, if you create stuff out of nowhere (Bountys/Asteroids) the prices would drop faster than you will say (insert the word of your choise).
The market doesn-¦t care if your getting ganked if there is a "need" of something which can-¦t be handeled the prices will rise.
Would be okay for me to remove PVP from highsec if - There are no Belts in Highsec - No Rats in Highsec - No Missions in Highsec - No Anomalies in Highsec
or to keep it simple nothing you can earn money.
Then have fun to jump with your max cargo hold freighter into lowsec ;)
To keep it short stupid idea with the target to break the game. Not supported

They call us care bears, but they don't understand that we are the ones who make it possible for them to build their ships. They don't understand that we are the ones who harvest the minerals, ship them, and sell them. And yet, they abuse us. The suicide gankers make it more work than it's worth to mine, ship, and sell.
We might not be the ace pilots that a lot of the Eve community is, but we run the markets and the asteroid belts. If we wanted to fight in pvp combat, we would go to low or null sec space.
Personally, I joined Eve because it looked like a fun space sim, and it's a good game, for the most part, but I recently quit because I don't want to deal with the suicide gankers anymore. I'm taking a stand against allowing this kind of behavior, and if I have to stand alone at first, then I will. It saddens me to see such a great game stained by the company that made it.
I know, a lot of you are going to call me a carebear crybaby, and what not, but I don't really care. I know there are others out there who feel the way I do, and CCP might listen if we all raise our voices together.
I know there have been attempts like this in the past, but we have lacked unity and persistence. I will persist when others tire. I will unite us when we are divided. I will bring the carebears together, and together we will crush the suicide gankers and wannabe Concord agents into the dirt.
CCP will listen to us. They will change. They will submit to the will of the community.
EDIT: I just saw that LackofFaith suggested that I should post this in another forum. Please link it. I don't come on here much, and I don't know which forum you're talking about.

Carebear is not synonymous with miner or industrialist. Not all of us hate PvP, many of us revel in it .
if all you PvP hating carebears quit tomorrow, there are plenty of us that would still mine, we would still build. And we'd make a fortune if you werent about. You started playing last year, and you don't have the skills to avoid being ganked? How much skill does it take to use d-scan, join an intel channel and pay a friend a few million ISK to scout for you?

No, alts out in null harvest materials.

If you actually ran asteroid belts, you wouldn't have started this thread. If you are pre-aligned, watching local and watching d-scan, there is absolutely 0% chance of you being ganked.

What on earth made you think EVE is a "space sim"? The advertisements for the game say that "you can be the villain". Where in the promo material for EVE do they ever claim to be a space sim?

OP, while I sympathize with your request, removing all ganking from highsec would render the game boring and let people bling ships without consequences. While I also dislike what CODE is doing, the solution is to make certain tweaks (bumping, affects of having 10 sec status, etc...) rather than trying to ban ganking. |
