I've been doing Gallente missions for Federation Navy for a very long time, got personal->corp standing of 7.8
Imagine my suprise when i looked up Federal Navy Academy and realised that they have me at -3.2. I haven't done missions for FNA, so i haven't failed anything for them. So why would i have such a low standing? My faction standing is at 4.4
Upon investigating transactions, i noticed a bunch of -14% drops for podding FNA members.... . Quickly cross referenced with other "noob alt corps" and same thing there.
? WTF ?
Two issues here that **** me off
1) All these kills were done in 0.0 space. Systems RQH-MY and RZC-16 if anyone wants to double check the security status. Wasn't 0.0 supposed to be "lawless space", where your standings are not effected? Concord doesn't flag you, your security doesn't drop. Why is this corp standing drop then?
2) My logs only show this happening starting from 2006.05.29. I have killmails of "noob alts" going back before those days, yet no corresponding standings drop. So, that means this change was introduced only since around that date.... how come there was nothing in patch notes about that?

Well, if it was an undocumented change, it probably does suck. But as I understood it, blowing up someone in lawless space will result in no change to your security standing (ie, your standing with concord). I would imagine that the whole corp standings change is just some attempt to follow at what you'd expect player corps to do. Ie, if some guy is constantly chasing down their corp members and blowing them up, to set a negative standing to them so that they know to avoid and not trust that person.

Changes to the standing systems have never been documented for us lowly podpilots since missions have been introduced. --*=*=*--

It would be great if you lost state faction for podding people. Say you pod a minnie you lose standing with Minmatar etc.
If anything people in NPC corporations should be exempt to 'encourage' them to leave and so you can pod alt spies.
Sov space should be exempt to but no other space.

I don't disagree with your argument - this looks like a weird change that hasn't been documented properly. I do have a slight quibble, though...

If you pod members of BoB, for example, in 0.0 space you'll probably find that your standing with BoB drops dramatically. Because someone in the corp will set you as KOS. So it's realistic in its own way.

I agree that this is even logical. And it was obviously done with Factional Warfare of Kali in mind.
However
1. Would have been nice to know of this change before i ruined my standings with the NPC corp that happens to own the station that i use daily (and i was wondering why my taxes were through the roof)
2. This is so very exploitable by the noob-corp-alts. People will now create noob-corp-alts who are in the same NPC corp as the local station, so that when you kill them, even while they are spying in 0.0, you hurt yourself more than them.
Like we don't have enough alt abuse already: alt forum posts, alt scammers, alt spammers, alts doing logon traps and ruining the game generally... Now CCP gave these alts even more protection!

For atleast the last 9 month it has been so that if you podkill noobcorpmembers you got a standinghit.

I have several killmails (where i layed the final blow) of killing noobcorp members, and no corresponding corp standings drop for that corp. Either the "standings transaction history" doesn't go back more than couple of months, or this wasn't present couple of months ago.
