Just curious, why does the domi seem to be so incredibly popular for ratting, to the point you see almost to mention of the mega?
I can see why it would be popular in PvP, but for PvE, it seems like the Mega would be able to deal more damage (8 highs, the PG to actually fit a full rack of guns while also having a tank, and can still use 5 heavy drones).
Especially since you could use a MWD and blasters for ratting, for some insane damage, while still maintaining a decent tank (ions not neutrons of course).
What am I missing?

1.) To many Noobs dont know how to use blasters and says: "oh no I cant hit, domi pwns!" because they do know nothing about tracking/transversal.
2.) thats about it.

Or because its a great tank and decent drone skills they will general kill a spawn quicker then a blaster Mega which cant hit frigs, inties or often cruisers

Meh you leave frigs behind anyway when chaining spawns, or you could just use T2 med drones which still do nice damage and chew frigs and cruisers up. That doesn't seem to be a great reason to use one ship over another.

i plan on having a domi fitted with rails and drones and a few items that help my rails hit for PVE, the only reason i using domi is becuse its cheaper than the mega.

Large Blasters use Large Hybrid Ammo, which ain't exactly cheap. Drones use no ammo. Less isk spent getting bounties and loot == more in my wallet.

5 Heavy drones alone are enough to take out most BS spawn, easily, in a Domi with modest skills. You simply don't need huge firepower to shoot down rats, and the Domi is extremely easy to tank.
She's also a cheap ship, especially considering how good she is.

The tank on a PVE blaster megathron is a joke compared to the tank on a PVE Dominix.
And the drones, they are so cute and they hurt a lot.
I used my Megathron for PVE for 2 years, now I don't even own one.

You're missing that you don't need a full rack of guns + 5 heavies to take out multiple BS rat spawns effectively. The heavies alone are more than enough, especially given the Domi's bonuses. If you're chaining spawns, the only things that matter are your ability to take out the BSes, and tank the remaining ships. The Domi does both of these well.

Because by the time you carry enough ammo to avoid frequent trips to station to get ammo (which lowers your isk/hour), you have no room left to pick up loot, and end up going to station frequently to offload loot (which lowers your isk/hour). And if you happen to lose a drone (which does happen sometimes even if you know what youre doing), then you have to go back to station to replace it and, yep you guessed it, that lowers your isk/hour.
Plus, for reasons ive never been able to explain, it seems like the megathron has a hard time tanking some spawns that a domi handles easily (yes ive ratted with both).
Bottom line is, theres really no beating drone ships for efficient ratting, because you have basically no expenses for ammo, can tank your arse off (since you dont need low slots for damage mods), and have almost all your cargo hold to pack away the loot.
