Are you the kind of player that has hundreds or maybe even thousands of stations with assets at? maybe you go ratting in random locations and just leave junk modules all over the place. I wonder who is the player with the most assets scattered accross the eve universe and how many assets they have, not talking about wealth or value of the items either. And I wonder how much this affects the games databases or overall performance and such.

I think I am. I always buy stuff like modules and skillbooks a long time before I can actually use them, just for the sake of having them already available the second when I can use them. Besides this I pile up agent rewards (stuff like small arms and wheat) and loot and when I've got enough to fill a hauler I just haul it around and sell it to the highest bidder

Yup! i've got stuff EVERYWHERE, the real problems are the ships I leave sitting in space though, I know for a fact that i've left a ship in space before then accidentally deleted the SS....

I am a messy player. Along time ago I decided to escrow it all to an alt, I had the alt claim the items but never bothered to pick them up. So now insted of seeing the items I have everywhere I just see cardboard boxes. I just know ill travel 25 jumps to find out it was just a damn med shield booster or something dumb. Good plan.

Been playing since 2003 never had more than 5 locations. Now, for the last 6 months I have 3 locations.
1 Location: Main Base where all ther important stuff is stored. Preferably 1 or 2 jumps out to a system with Lab Slots (never know when you might need one)
1 Location: Secondary base of operations. Stores just enough stuff to survive for a week or so if I am stuck. Stores Armour/Shield/Weapons and other modes against concievable problems of loosing a ship or two, also has enough minerals to build a couple of ships, just in case.
1 Location: Temporary base of operation. Usually located either in Rating System/Agent System, close to a secondary base, or whatever. Anything there can be easily forgoteen or left alone if I have to leave it.
Here is a pic of my typical "Main Base" Hangar: Linkage

Edited by: Caleb Paine on 04/08/2006 18:59:20 I keep my assets clean and apart from one station where I dump all my missionloot I know exactly what's stored in what station.
I learned the hard way heh

Yup. Items in 45 locations spread across the galaxy. And that's after my hauler alt when round picking up stuff and shipping it back to what I laughably call my "main" base.
I would put this stuff in containers, but you can't search them remotely so most of it's lying around in hangars. I learnt that lesson the hard way when I had to buy a new set of local cargo expanders because I couldn't work out which container in which region my other set was in.

You wouldn't belive how handy it is to have that stuff lying about, espeically in systems where there isn't much for sale.
It's saved my rear on several occasions....

Hahah, I had my buddy change a skill for me while I was out of town. He was amazed at the amount of assets I had scattered all over the Eve universe. He was like, no wonder you don't have any isk! You have like a billion worth of assets all over the damn place! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Win a Cynabal (Angel Faction Cruiser) for 10ml!!! |

You know you can break the escow boxes remotely via assets, right?
Or at least I can...

I have stuff in about 80 stations. Of those, two are my HQs (empire and 0.0) and as such are organised into cans. The rest are a mess (some with just a small ammo bpo, others with 100+ items). I think if I went and picked up all the crap I have lying around I could buy a BS or two lol.
I got a jar or dirt!

CCP needs an NPC service where they store items and move them for a fee. however, the process should take a long time and be quite expensive. Maybe like 1 mil per 10k m3 per jump and up to 100k m3... also 1 day per jump... and anything you move can not be touched until it gets to its destination. However, they won't haul any minerals.
Ummm... nah, now that I think about it. :P

I have stuff at about 20 locations across the universe (from ISS Marginis to IRON Olympus). Mostly those are just small drops of mexallon though...just a hint to everyone, make sure you don't put up a buy order for 40 jumps unless you really want to. ________________________________________________

Yes. I never really thought about using cans at my hq though- that's an excellent idea. As of now I've just memorized the order modules are in. I have a few systems that have more than enough to supply me for a while. I think I'm happy the way I'm setup now, but I might have to implement the cans idea someday.
