Being an Eve addict I thought no a support ship cannot target and boost it self. But according to the rules it appears possible. Can the Basilisk target it self pay 1 and prevent 1 damage?
Apart from that great game so far. Combat is a little fiddly at first and I am sure I have warping wrong as well. But the first 4 games where fun.

It can target itself, yes.
But it cant prevent taking one damage, as using the ability WILL give one damage, unless prevented by other means.

If the ship's ability doesn't say otherwise, then yes, it can target it self. Basilisk can prevent damage that is being dealt to it, as long as you have enough ISK.

How can it prevent it?
Wouldn't it still take one damage from the use of the ability?

well to be honest, this is "Eve Online" only in a card game form. I would want to guess that it CAN NOT target itself just like any other ship in Eve cannot target itself. Otherwise people would be using logistics drones on themselves or using armor repairs and remote armor repairs on themeselves or what not.
So if you go by honest and obvious Eve Online rules and the basics of gameplay, then NO it cannot target itself.
Anything else is just a cheap way of cheating by working the context to your advantage.

Wrong and wrong. No matter how many times the announcer at the GenCon tournament may have said "Eve Online", this isn't Eve Online. It's played in the same setting, sure, and uses much of the same material, but this is by no means the same game. That something wouldn't make sense in terms of the online game most certainly does not make it "a cheap way of cheating", it makes it different from the online game.
The only way such a rule is "obvious" is if it's either printed in the rulebook or has otherwise been clarified by the devs.

Just above you, the game's creator said:

And this is not EVE-Online. Infact, the Cardgame is not called EVE-Online:TSG, but EVE:TSG.
You don't go by the 'honest and obvious' rules, because this is not a direct translation to cards.
Sorry you can't afford a dev so you get me instead ^^ - Xorus I hear Xorus is only 50 isk an hour - Immy Oooh that could get Suvetar for the day! - Cathath |
