Edited by: Zaxx on 08/10/2003 16:43:29 I was beating up guristas yesterday when I got in a bit of a fix and fired a torp to extract myself - and got told I had initiated aggression against somebody? Strange, I was alone in that system...
I messaged them and found they weren't even in the same region as me never mind system!
This isn't the first time this has happened, last time the reported person was in the system with me but had not come to the spawn I was at, I ran to a planet to let things cool off and messaged them, they had no knowledge of me hitting them so I put it down to them having a secure can there or something.
Lucky for me both times it was in a system < 0.5 but I'm a bit worried about this happening in a system where concord will come and whup me
Anybody else seen this? Is it a known bug and are there ways to avoid it? Please don't tell me to refrain from using missiles as I like them too much
edit: Also I noticed I didnt take sec hit or anything for this. |

One of my corp mates had this exact thing happen to him the other day. Really sucks because he took the security hit too. You might want to check yours as well.

Edited by: Zaxx on 08/10/2003 17:00:54 Edited by: Zaxx on 08/10/2003 16:57:40 No, I took no sec hit at all I've double checked.
If you mean secure cans or "claimed" loot cans, there were none there at all. If you mean standard loot cans then that's a little worrying
I've just found another thread about this so it seems to be quite common - sorry for the double post, maybe I should have used the forum search... oh |

Since all cargo cans have an "owner" now, the ones dropped by rats need one too. My personal guess is that it is the solar system numerical ID, and this corresponds to some lucky/unlucky players ID, thus he gets credit for all the loot cans in the system. It is a little unnerving, but I dont think you usually take a sec hit.

I have had it happen while using only turrets. Since turrets do no splash damage, it is clearly a bug.

I've actually noticed that sometimes the ownership of jettisoned containers changes. Just 2 days ago I found that contianers that I had jettisoned myself, had changed ownership to someone else. Furthermore all the pirate loot containers that had come from pirates I had killed where owned by the same person that my mineral containers had changed too.
I found this quite odd. Nothing to see here .... move along. |

This is exact thing happened to a m8 in a 0.4.
No one else was in the system, much less this person that agression was initiated against. Playing it safe, they ran from planet to planet and avoided stations and gates for 20 minutes.
No Concord, no security hit, just some soiled undies. --------------

CONCORD are only in 0.5+, no need to worry. I had this happening in high-sec space too, nothing happened. Just annoying.

My thread on exactally the same thing. I verified sec loss because of it as well.
