Edited by: Aeina Caeraen on 05/08/2006 07:03:07 So, a friend (plays on TQ normally) who's currently on vacation in China thought it would be a good idea to pick up a retail box of it while he was there. Apparently, the box was pretty and it only cost him 28 RMB (something like 3.50 USD, 2.75 EUR :P) He's uploaded a bunch of photos of the box they get over there to evefiles, and I'm posting these for him.
In any case, it comes in a nice shiny metal box: Exterior Box Interior Box
The package comes with the install CD, a card printed with an access key, and a comprehensive manual. (Something an English release could use :P) Contents Full Contents Manual Manual Contents
The color manual (~150 pages) is apparently significantly more detailed than anything new players to TQ can get: Manual 1 Manual 2 -This page is apparently a tutorial to the "Aura" Tutorial TQ gets. How ironic :P
Their manual comes with a pretty useful "what to do in your first hour of EVE" section, and pages 20-88 are filled with details older players often take for granted, both of which should probably be translated back to English and posted here somewhere.
Manual 3 -This page details the characteristics of the different ship chassis available on release for EVE China. From what I understand, (based on what he says the manual says) EVE-CN is releasing with: Rookie Ships, Shuttles, Frigates, Destroyers, Cruisers, BattleCruisers, Battleships, Industrials, Mining Barges, Interceptors, and Assault Frigates. Oh, and Carriers. (Although I can't imagine anyone on Serenity being able to pilot one for a while, although it is amusing to think of how long it would take grinding mishs to buy a Chimera and Capital Component BPO set :P)
Character Creation More Tutorials Tutorial on T1 and Named Mods Module Info
(NB, I'm a compulsive post-editor, please bear with me :P)
Enjoy and such.

Awesome.
Also, the manual should give some idea as to where they are in the eve development. Is t2 out yet? Are they waiting for further expansions to release those? What about POS warfare/conquerables/outposts/capitals. Are they already in? Also applies to other things, like jumpclones.

I have talked with some friends in Beijing who are currently playing eve-cn mode :). The progress seems to be extremely fast out there, after a little more than a month, they have battleships from all races flying around in space, most T1 equips are on the market no T2 equips yet (well with in 1 month.. you wont be able to use T2 equips anyway -.-).

Erm, I don't think so. When I was out in Iceland, I remember someone of the devs saying that EVECN had only just made the cross over from beta to live. So it's only been going about 2 weeks, if that.

Wow. I gotta say, Im jealous.
Any other people who played eve at launch remember the so-called instructions that had basically no information?
I supplemented it with a strategy guide that turned out to have information from like beta 4 or something and was totally out-dated by launch. Whee! +++

I have heard that its normal for Chinese betas to not wipe the servers when the game goes live. They would have exactly what they had when beta ended. Don't know if that's the case here, though.

man i bought a boxed copy of the game when it first came out here in the U.S. the manual was pretty worthless and the graphics on the box dated to beta in some areas.
i played late beta, oh those were the days. i remember on armageddon day getting a megathron and filling my mids up with microwarp drives and i blasted off somewhere at like 384km/sec or something rediculous like that. i can't remember with all the lag.

That is true. We usually have a close beta before open beta, and everything will be wiped out when close beta is done. From the open beta, everything will normally be saved when the game goes live.
And to the one who asked the character: 族, it means "races".
PS: I never acknowledged that EVE-CN got a nice box like that. I think I'll get on the street and look for one after dinner tonight. =]
