Our alliance had been founded with honour and motives of decency and above all the protection and stabilisation of the Pure Blind area of the Eve universe. For many months we had engaged hostile entities such as ASCN, Jericho Fraction, and the various pirate corporations that occasionally decided to fight rather than flee when our ships arrived in their sector.
Our small alliance of three original corps, CEI being the founders along with Blades and then OV had now increased in size significantly. DAB, RG and most recently Mythos had swelled our numbers to more than 500 members.
The northern territories once more were in turmoil. Friends suddenly became enemies when The Forsakened Empire not only gave up the will to fight the .5. alliance but committed the ultimate act of betrayal and joined them to fight against former friends.
The hugely aggressive BoB alliance along with ASCN locked EC-P8R down for more than a week and destroyed the TRUST outpost costing the industrial giants billions of isk in the process. Although several attempts were made to jump into the sector the lockdown was complete and virtually unbreakable.

Someone asked me last night when I would be posting another story of OV etc... well I have been trying for a while and failed due to RL and the seriously quickly changing political environment of late. But I gave it a shot this morning for an hour or two and came up with this.
As usual, this is MY PERSONAL view on events. I'm not a politician, or a recorder of diddly squat. Just someone who puts pen to paer then every now and then simply for the pure pleasure of doing it so please no flames.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I sat, invisible, watching the hustle and bustle of fellow pod pilots going about their business oblivious to me watching them from above. My Covert OpÆs class Buzzard frigate giving me the freedom to move unseen with itÆs cloaking device activated.
Suddenly my screen lights up, shortly after I feel the slight push as the shockwave from the explosion that had just occurred below sweeps over my ship. A pilot for one reason or another had unleashed a missile at a possible aggressor, obviously Concord police officers did not consider this part of an agreed war in accordance with various treaties. Meting out a swift and merciless blow to the aggressing party, his ship quickly engulfed by fire from several battleships, his end in no doubt.
My name is Heptameron, fast attack and scout pilot for the Octavian Vanguard and the Razor Alliance.
After a few more minutes I decided it was time to make a move. Time to look for something less populated, something more dangerous, time to move to back to our new home in deep 0.0 space.
I sat back once again and relaxed as I started the long journey. My mind drifting to the recent debates, most of them centred around the various wars currently raging around the Eve universe. Some of the conflicts raging were understandable, but others confused me. It seemed more and more pod pilots were taking to the skies purely and simply to shed the blood of others with no other reason than they felt they had a right to.

Edited by: Heptameron on 06/08/2006 11:32:08 Surprisingly the G alliance disbanded and formed a new alliance with TRUST, Dusk To Dawn known as D2. RAZOR has always had a very close relationship with G and this continued with the formation of the new alliance. Large operations were quickly put in place to try and remove the 5 alliance and FE. Combat mainly centred around the D7 sector and at times contained more than 300 pilots battling for superiority. Losses incurred by both sides were heavy at times, however the battle skills and command and control of the D2 and Razor forces was far superior. On many occasions the number of enemy podÆs and loot cans littered the sky, our frigate pilots quickly picking up valuable items and transporting them to the stations to be reused by our own pilots.
However, larger plans were afoot, plans which once again would change the face of the northÆs political landscape and establish Razor as a primary stakeholder.
The word was sent out by the alliance leaders to prepare for a swift move north. No great detail was given as secrecy of the operation was paramount. This was an alliance wide call and all that was known was it was big, bigger than anything we had recently been involved in and would involve ourselves and D2.The word was sent out by the alliance leaders to prepare for a swift move north. No great detail was given as secrecy of the operation was paramount. This was an alliance wide call and all that was known was it was big, bigger than anything we had recently been involved in and would involve ourselves and D2.
The staging point would be 6NJ, the first part of the operation being a freighter move. Ensuring all of the critical components of war were centrally available for our pilots. Less than 48 hours later, after almost non stop preparations and production of all the items necessary, 5 freighters launched from 5zxx. Their load predominantly combat ships, ammunition and POS components. Gang warp was initiated and the close combat escorts custodians of the heavily laden transport ships moved in unison toward the first jump that would be a move toward a new future for the alliance.

The first few days were frantic, combat operations after combat operation were conducted. The establishment of control in BKG was the primary goal and was taken within a few days. The opposing forces no match for the onslaught that was the combination of D2 and RZR pilots.
As the days wore on it became clear of our ultimate goal. That of the taking control of the Tenal region of space for our own, somewhere we could claim as home once again at the forefront of our plans.
With this in mind fleets were formed and then quickly sent to S-EV, our central area of operation. In our path lay the forces of KAOS empire and ERA, both alliances having large numbers of combat pilots equally willing to lay their lives on the line for what they saw as their homeà.. we obviously had a different opinion.
The first day or so battles were fierce, large scale encounters happening on a regular basis. Space dotted with the debris of ships and the charred remains of pod pilots left to spend eternity floating in blackness. Roaming gangs of alliance pilots killing them where they mined, trapping them as they travelled between sectors. The enemy once again were either unprepared or unwilling to fight an extended war against a relentless foe. Opposition weakened, corporations left their alliance and asked us for safe passage and 48 hour ceasefires to remove their belongings and went in search of a new home. Magnanimous in victory, this was granted each time.
The station in 6OY was taken, an important station because of itÆs refining capabilities. OV becoming itÆs new owners sent a tingle of pride through my veins, the possibility of resurrecting a name from the past now a possibility instead of a dream.
Octavian Prime was reborn after hundreds of years and many tales told of itÆs once great past perhaps future generations would hear tales of a new Oct Prime which would quicken the blood and raise the spirit of new Octavian warriors!

æHept!Æ û A short barked question from my communication console brought my attention back to the present day.
æHey Neo!Æ I shot backà æPlexes too busy today?Æ I taunted, Neo was a very capable pilot, but was also a very easy person to annoy. Needless to say for someone with my humorous outlook on life he was always a target.
In times past we had been almost nose to nose with physical violence not too far away but finally a grudging respect for each others views had been agreed and the need for teamwork in deep 0.0 was much more important than our own egos. So we agreed to disagree and needled each other at every opportunity giving the rest of the corporation membership something to laugh over.
æPucker up you tart!Æ he laughed over commsà.
æEnough you two!Æ Stainless our CEO came into view on the video comm. Channel.
æWe have to get people moving from XZH tonightÆ
æGoonFleet are finished and we have a new threat in Tribute, seems the frenchies in Tau Ceti have made a claim to H-W. We of course dispute that and have the plates to place their butts on already prepared.Æ
We had heard rumours of TCF roaming around Tribute recently. The opposition weakened by the massive operation to retake Cloud Ring from Goon Fleet, TCF had taken advantage and moved in their forces. This was not good, and needed to be dealt withà.
GF had made some very serious errors in judgement which had led to them losing the war for Cloud Ring. I am not a political animal in any way shape or form and try and keep my distance from it at all costs, but their screw up had cost them any chance of a win. They had massive numbers but not the technology and skills to use the better classes of ships and armaments. They had used this to their advantage at the start of the war.
The memories of watching a swarm of GF slowing taking down 3 of our allies dreadnought class capital ships still vivid. Our planning and preparation for the first assault had been poor. We had inflicted massive losses on their predominantly tech 1 fleets but our dread losses were a bitter aftertaste in our mouths.
And so quickly plans were laid for a massive assault, a system lockdown and a huge operation to plant 30 PoS in XZH system and gain sovereignty of the system. Our fleets formed and prepared for battle!

One engagement in particular stood out.-
We had placed a large amount of warp bubbles around the only exit point from the system. Our gang numbered around 90 with around 190 hostiles in local. Our cover ops pilots scouting out their fleet as we all waited for the battle to begin. Goonfleet scouts continually warped in to different spots to gather intel on our fleet movements and composition.
Finally it happened, I knew something big was happening as my targeting overview paused for several seconds, itÆs auto refresh ælaggingÆ as it tried to cope with the new targets it had detected.
[æCOMMS COMMS, ENEMY FLEET INBOUND!!Æ The slightly panicked shout from one of scouts issued the warning that they had finally decided to engage us.
æCalm down guysÆ Came the reply from Sir Mumm the D2 fleet commander running the dayÆs OPÆs.
æMake sure you are aligned and at speedÆ
æSupport ships overview settings for support only, battleships BS onlyÆ
æI will call the targets when they drop out of warp and everyone focus. Combat comms discipline, no chatter, if you lose your ship get your pod out and wait at a safe spot.Æ
My blood started to race as it always does a few seconds before a fight. I was in a Crow class interceptor on support duty. Always fast and furious compared to BS fleet fights as I would be in the middle of the enemy at close range trying to make sure they did not escape the clutches of our fleet.
I quickly checked my overview setting and my modules were active. I typed a very quick message to my corp mates.
æheads up guys, listen to the fleet commanders orders and we should have some fun here. See you all in the bar later!! RAH!Æ
Then my computer systems diedà. æcrap!Æ it thought to myself. æwhat the hell is going on?Æ
I furiously hit my controls, nothing, everything seemed frozen in time. Checking outside of my ship I could see other pilot in space but no-one seemed to be moving. Trying to manoeuvre my ship manually proved futile, fear started to edge itÆs way into my brain. Had I died already? Was my ship about to explode around me because of some new super weapon goonfleet had acquired?
Then a splutter of life, I saw a module light start to flashà. then another, my heart pounding like a hammer in my chest by this time. My ship started to move, slowly, noises were becoming stronger. Then my overview lit up like the Christmas Trees in stories of old earth!
The enemy had warped in such numbers that our ageing computers were unable to deal with the telemetry being fed them by our sensor arrays, effectively freezing all motion. Finally the hardware had caught up and displayed a huge fleet of opposing ships all preparing to engage us. I immediately targeted an incoming frigate vessel whose intent was to provide a warp in for his larger BS size companions. He died quickly and a trip to the cloning vat was his only reward.
Communications was almost silent, the only voice that of the fleet commander methodically moving through the list of opposing ships. His calm demeanour helping everyone in the fight maintain control over not just their ships but the overload of emotion that came with a battle of this size.
Interdictor bubbles had been placed on the enemy fleet, their warp in spot becoming a killing ground of immense proportions. My crow nimbly moving between enemy vessels, warp scrambling those attempting to escape the ferocious onslaught of our allied forces. Ships were replaced with escape pods and small cans which were all that remained of combatants. A frozen corpse bounced off my wing sending a small jolt through my interceptor and a larger one through my stomach as the realisation of the slaughter we were inflicting hit home.

Aye interesting perspective over the events. But I am sure there are others out there that can give us more history to add to it over time.

Originally by: Lord Wimbishi Aye interesting perspective over the events. But I am sure there are others out there that can give us more history to add to it over time.
It's a story pure and simple and I have no doubt that if you were to interview the several hundred people involved each would give a slightly distinct and personal view on events. Mine just represent one of them and artistic license aside are not far from my very personal view on proceedings.
Story telling is about that, about events and personal views of said events with a little bit of artistic license thrown in for good measure and effect, or they just turn into a narrative by recorders and as such lose some of the entertainment provided by the tellers. Bear in mind this took me an hour or so to write over several glasses of a very nice portugese green wine and several special moroccan cigarettes, very little editing apart from spelling etc, so hey... shoot me if they are a slightly distorted view, who cares? ---------------------------------------------- We can't all be heroes, because somebody has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by |
