Imagine.
For each ship you kill in a given hull, you get an indicator on the side of your hull.
Imagine.
It could even be broken down by class of ships you kill.
Wherever someone does a look-at on your ship, they would see them. You would of course have the option to display them or not. Lose your ship, the counts reset to zero.
This idea not only would increase the size of e-peens everywhere, but create real emotional attachment by a pilot to his specific ships.
If CCP can spend dev effort on improved cloaking effects, why not content like this?

I want this feature to track the number of unanchored POS towers I've stolen in a certain BR. |

The people who care about this feature would abuse it by repeatedly killing an alt in a rookie ship.
The people who don't care about this feature... don't care.
I don't see this being useful. Targeting, Sensors and ECM Overhaul |

I love the idea of personalizing ships, especially since a lot of players form, for lack of a better word, emotional attachment with certain ships. The problem I see though, is that the servers would have to keep track of kills in a way that I don't think that they do. Meaning that something besides killboards would have to track your kills of each hull/ship type, in each hull/ship type and then compare that to the ID of a particular ship and it's current 'splodey/lack of 'splodey status.
I would to have ships with "battle scars" in such a way that the surface would gain "character" anytime you take a lot of armor or hull damage (maybe 85% armor and 40% hull) by using the lore reasoning that battle repairs to the ships armor will be cosmetically different because of differences in the available materials blah blah etc.... This, however, would probably irritate the graphics team.
Both of those things would almost certainly need a lot of new code to be written to even make them possible though, and it would be purely cosmetic code even if it would send me out looking for even more vengeance after losing a favorite ship than I would now. |

I'm not sure if that is much of an issue. Obviously, it would mean that ships would not be able to retroactively gain marks. But otherwise, that information would be accessed rarely (only when looking at details of a KM), so it shouldn't be a strain on the database.

But yes, this is something that is purely cosmetic in a game where most people view it as purple and red boxes in space. |

Good point about the SOF, I forgot all about that. Actually, yea I think that would probably make it fairly easy to do a miniature version with ships associated with a character. Probably even be able to be stored client side.

How about I just get the link to my KB printed on the side of my ship instead I wear my goggles at night.

Instead of an actual visual thing on the ship it should be visable when you select 'show info' and see the ships kill history next to the ships thumbnail (clickable button). 'If' CCP should implement it it would be way easier to do it like that instead of a ship texture that is always visible to all clients. |

Rather redundant thread. However, to answer your question, CCP is already working on ship customization, and the new ship object factory is the first step in that process. While I don't know if they're planning kill counters or anything, they will be adding ship painting schemes to the game. There is a prototype video of this on youtube already. |

Can we have, instead, an indicator on your forum portrait?
Every time you post a redundant thread without searching, you get a mark. Every time another person looks at your portrait, they'll know right away how much of a lazy shiptoaster you are.
It's a "show kills on the side of the ship" thread. Again. Not only that, but OP has neglected to consider the technical aspects of his request. Again. |
