I'm planning on building up a Covert Ops specialist pilot. I plan also to build up a couple different Covert ships over time, one for PvP specifically and one to run PvE missions aswell as training myself in CovOps/EW. Since the PvE ship is what i'll need at first, I'd like to be using a cloak to get into High Threat index courier mission areas, as well as to escape and evade any overpowering encounters. I was thinking either a Falcon or Rook, possibly the rook more so since it seems to also be more able to go into combat when required. Any advice on which ship, either one of these or even one of the other ships i've not listed, would be greatly appreciated, as would any general advice on play/setup. Thanks.

The rook may be more combat capable, but you'll find that it can't fit a covert ops cloak. Assuming you're going caldari, the 3 ships you might be interested in are the Falcon, the Buzzard and the Manticore.

Manticore can't fit a covert ops cloak either, sadly. I'd be very happy if it could, but bombers aren't all that high on the stealth scale at the moment.

Hi Tsi!
First of all, I'm sorry to tell you that the ships you mentioned are very skill intensive.
I had about the same idea as you when i was new to the game, and I trained up for a manticore. I don't regret this at all since it provided me with many necesarry skills...
My advivce to you is to start with a manticore, and take it from there. It's a fun ship to fly, but has no real use. Once there, you'll find that a battleship will take you much further then a manticore, and once you have mastered the battleship-flying, then you are soon ready for HAC's and the ships you are dreaming about (falcon and rook)
Oh well... That's just my two cents... If you need any further advice don't hesitate to look me up ingame!
Good luck!

I like the Buzzard, and covert ops because it allows me to get in and out of 0.0 when I please.
You can put buy orders out for high end modules and loot in 0.0 and haul them back to empire to make a profit.
Agreed covert is a steep investment in time and isk, but once you have it you are a genuine asset in 0.0.

You can't do ANYTHING cloaked. Can't dock, lock, jump, and do anyting other than move and warp if it's a cov ops cloak.

I see many people saying that the manticore has no real uses but I've been ratting in low sec for about 3 months with mine. It's a great ship for ratting. I've even stopped ratting in my Ferox.

You mention using a cloaked ship for PvE as it would provide you with an escape route.
I'm afarid not. You can't cloak whilst an opponent has you target locked.
