This might have been said before, but all the dual weapons(Dual 150mm rail and so), should fire 2 charges i think as both fire at the same time if you look at them, isnt that what the "Charge rate" attribute is for?
I know it would double ammo usage, but they already got alot of capicity Yarr

The increased ammo usage is represented by higher ROF. Think of each shot fired as fired from one of the two barrels, one fire while the other reload thus a higher ROF is achieved.

Id rather have a lower ROF just to see two guns fire about a half second apart

I'd rather have turrets that expand on this theme. Give me a battleship-sized railgun, call it a quad-cannon or whatever, or a bank of weapons, and make it basically 4x 150mm guns. It doesn't make any sense that a battleship can only mount one frigate-sized weapon on a battleship-sized hardpoint.

This could be a interesting thing, or maybe make a platform you can fit that turns the slot into 4 slots with a limit of like 15pg each
Dual turrets should fire one barrel each time though, not both at the same time as that takes out the whole idea with dual mounted smaller turrets, the thing is that it should give a lower damage for a higher RoF
(Sorry for bumping this thread but i kinda like this idea and i havent had access to internet for some time)

What I don't get is this - why do the dual 150s, for instance, use medium instead of small ammo?
A "proper" Dual Whatevercannon should have twice the ammo capacity, the same damage multiplier, slightly less than twice the rof, a longer reload time, and slightly lower tracking than a standard Whatevercannon.
If I duct-tape two shotguns together in my garage, that's what I end up with. Also, it should use the same small ammo as the single, frigate/cruiser sized whatevercannon.
My $0.02.

Exacly, would be nice if the devs checked around in these forums regularly though. From what i saw in ideas and suggestions it was so many stupid ideas that the devs didnt care

A hardpoint is a mounting position with sockets that you plug a weapon system into. They do not stock on like fridge magnets.
A dual gun system would be like a junction box with two weapons attached, and the junction box plugs into the single weapon slot. So they need to come as pre-packed weapons like they do now.
Plus, it would be a fitting screen nightmare. ------
