not sure that race is as important as starting stats - but IMO, Gallente make good miners :)

if you mean in terms of char creation, then you might just wanna pick the 'miner' class, or use this toolto get you where you want to go

can't go wrong with Int, Mem or Willpower - but go to the item database and check out a miner's skills, pick your attributes based on which skills need what

What skills are important, what should he learn ?

for mining you should get industry skills (like mining, refining, ice harvesting), drone skills (for mining drones), spaceship command that finally lets you get into a mining barge (and beyond), some trade skills (to sell bits), and then other skills you find will benefit you

How many Sp would this miner need to be"perfect" ?

not sure that there's ever a 'perfect' character defined on SP - i have a 4 million sp miner who has a LONG way still to go - yes, i have some great skills, but i can't use exhumers, i can't refine all materials at the same level, i need to finish up on Drone Interfacing so i can get to Adv. Drone Interfacing, etc, etc - I think with the current choices i have in my queue (check out Eve-mon for long-term planning) i'll end up with about 6 million SP's, but will still have a LOT of skills to learn that'll help me be a 'perfect' miner

what ship should he fly ?

[b]depends on race and skill - look in the item database at ships, most races have a 'mining frigate' you can use till you progress to (say) a cruiser, although I realised that i wasted a lot of time mining in a cruiser as opposed to mining in a barge with strip miners attached - if you're serious about mining, I'd work towards getting into a barge asap but until then, a frigate/destroyer/cruiser will suffice

Should he learn to use drones ?

[b] yes, yes, and yes again. it's a long-road, but when you get to Drone 5/Drone Interfacing 5/Advanced Drone Interfacing 5 then you get (i believe) 10 drones that are 100% more effective than the 5 drones you can control at just Drone 5. One drone doesn't help much when mining on a big scale, 5-10 drones CAN make a difference. It's another good reason to go Gallente :P

The advanced drone interfacing skill only allows you to use 1 drone control unit per level of skill. If you look at them carefully, a drone control unit can only be used by carriers. Therefore you can still only use 5 drones to mine. Still even without this skill drone interfacing is very useful to mining drones (which do add up with 5 of em). Just didn't want anyone spending hard earned isk on a skill they cannot use for the purpose intended.

Unless you have over 75000 PG on your ship which is what each Drone Control Unit is listed for then you cannot fit them on anything except Carriers. Carriers carry fighters which don't mine. So please read the post before slamming it and do some research.
