Right i just made a new toon a Amarr PVP Focused Character, now he is very new and am just about to finish my basic learning and start my adv, i have small energy turret 4 and amarr frig 3, and as its early in my advancement i was wondering, are Amarr ships worth using to Gallente ships, ive been watching some videos reading up on the cruisers etc. and was wondering should i switch to gallente and are gallente ships more specialized for pirating/pvping ;) and they look alot nicer then the other ships. Thanks for reading.

The main advantage that Gallente have over Amarr for piracy is more mid-slots to fit tackling gear. That's only really an issue for solo piracy and goes away in gangs. It's not fatal, however. You can pirate perfectly well in a Punisher, a Maller, an Arbitrator, a Prophecy, ... take your pick.
Gallente currently have a small advantage over Amarr in preferable damage types (kinetic/therm versus the more heavily tanked EM/therm) against common targets, but that advantage will diminish as more shield tanking ships appear in PvP (the Rokh in fleets, for example) and perhaps an eventual tweak to laser damage types/amount.
Fly what's fun, not what's the flavour of the moment.

At the moment, Amarr are on the bottom of the buff/nerf curve and Gallente (arguably) on the top. By the time you really get into your PvP/piracy/whatever that could charge so if you want to fly Amarr I say go for it. Btw if you're sticking with T1 cruisers, the Maller is half-decent and the Arby pwns so I say don't switch.

Don't forget the flexibility of Drone damage types.
