Which is better for what? Sure, both are t1 frigs, but I've been having alot of fun with the Incursus lately.

I prefer the Incursus, drone bay for the win. The Tristan is also an ugly beast.

Incursus, its a real pirate ship...
It was my first ship and i used to fly it a lot, even used it when i got my tech 2 guns and interceptor, incursus just pwned more iskwise
Tristan used to be crap, allthough i havent done a tristan vs incursus in 2 years
Guess with 2X125mm rail and 2X std launcher with precisions a incursus could die fast... _________________________________________________

I flew an Incursus for a while and it was fast and fun but mildly vulnerable to lots of attacks. Drone encounters for example where you have 6-7 enemies wailing on you at once was extremely sketchy in the Incursus. However, those same missions with a Tristan would be cake, stay out of range and missile them and when/if they come closer then you turn on the rails/blasters. If you are mostly focusing on mission running then I would go with the Tristan but for low level PvP, the Incursus is the ship to have.

Edited by: Clais Monaige on 09/08/2006 20:52:47 I guess Tristan is supposed to be flown in solo engagements, meaning 1vs1 PVP or missions/ratting, since it's extra low slot and bigger hull make it a better tank, while the faster Incursus is a more group-wise ship which can approch faster and tackle enemies.
Since i've not flown a Tristan since it gained the extra missile slot i don't know how good it can be fitted and how much damage it can raise...hm, perhaps i should give it a try
*edit: looking at the bonuses both ships get, the Tristan seems to be a close-in fighter (tracking bonus), while the Incurses deals better at long range (falloff bonus). Tracking Range would support that. _____________________________ - be excellent to each other -

Edited by: AngryKhan on 09/08/2006 21:02:24 Ive been flying a tristian for a couple of days now, its a great ship, i have it mounted with a rail, art and two missle bays. Honestly you dont need the speed, if you want speed with low lvl frigates theres a gellente one that goes like 400ms witha civ afterburner on it for like 60k. But with all my long range equipment and a drone i can fill something full of holes before it even gets close. 40 ms isnt something worth gawking at, especially when your missing out on two missle bays.

Edited by: Pralay on 09/08/2006 23:14:06 I think Incursus is better mission ship, atleast lv1. I'm flying one right now infact.
faster, more cargo, less skills req. I've not seen a lvl1 mission that gives me much of a scare. I load 2 nanos or 2 cargo expanders 3 125's, shield booster, extener and a AB
Need better skills for lvl2 or PvP I'm sure
The guy above talking about drone bay might be thinking of the imicus which has 15m or drone bay. Which was pretty darn cool. But with my poor skills I couldn't fit/tank well enough in that.

I think it depends on your style of play - prefer the Incursus for its speed and extra cargo space compared to the Tristan.
They're both great ships I think, but the Tristan seems more appropriate for tanking - it can take the hits better (which is just as well, cos you'll get hit more often in it!), and works better for longer range combat.
I'm doing ok hunting npc cruiser rats so far in my Incursus. The extra speed means less waiting around to get places!

I fly Tristans a lot - and I can kill interceptors with them. Trust me, Tristan all the way. _____________ The day I receive my first moderator forum-sig hijack is the day I realise I have won Eve.

prove it, i've faught the incurs and the tristan that belonged to the same pilot, the incurs was a lot harder, tristan was a lot easier, but tristan is very good looking ^^

Tristan with ions and rockets can put out some mean damage while having a substantually larger tank than the incursis. Incursus is probably better suited to out and out pvp though as it is generally considered a better tackler and tech 1 frigs are really not good for anything other than tackling. My vote goes tot he Incursus.

Well, I don't have the killmail - but it was on the HED-GP to LGK-VP corridoor, and it was an IRON crow.
Unfortunately the killboard the kill was on has gone down - but with standard launcher IIs with explosive, and 125mm II with iridium and a 20k scram and a 200mm plate, you can eat certain interceptor set-ups alive. You have to be quite lucky, I will admit - but there is no better feeling than blowing up a t2 frig with a Tristan. _____________ The day I receive my first moderator forum-sig hijack is the day I realise I have won Eve.

I know the feeling, i got a cerberus in my rupture
but he had stabs =/
I havn't piloted the tristan but every 1 that i've faught that pilots the tristan pretty much sucks, perhaps it's because of their lame setups or skills

Yeah, you have to have good skills to make that ship work really well, I admit. _____________ The day I receive my first moderator forum-sig hijack is the day I realise I have won Eve.
