Ladies, Gentlemen, and Amarr
On behalf on Innsmouth Shipping, I would like to take this opportunity to announce our ownership of a Miner II blueprint.
First of all, I must thank Draaven for his conduct during the last week. He witheld our name as requested, and his articles were presented with great honesty. I know he has come in for some criticism over the first article relating to the accuracy of information about the current blueprint holders. I feel this is somewhat unfair because I don't believe any one of us knows exactly which items are out there, and which are not.
With respect to pricing and distribution of the Miners, we are currently attempting to devise an equitable system for their distribution - this presents some interesting staffing problems, as I'm sure the directors of Techell will confirm. More information will be made available on this matter soon.

I can totlaly understand the markup, because I have at leaste a basic understanding eccomics*****supply & demand.
What I can't understand is why CCP would make it un-ecconomical for BP coppies to be made. Thats senceless. It's not even worth the time for a corp to make limited-run coppies and sell them off in a scheme to "lease" the technology to other corps, because they will never be able to make more then doing a strait production run by doing so, thats pretty bad.
I was hoping to do JUST THAT if I ever got a rare BP, because I don't want to spend my time producing things, but I would want to get my product out and available to others. Seems senceless.
Good luck to you and your corp I know I'll be signign up for a Miner II one of these days I need better mines, it's th eonly thing standing in my way from mining faster at this point.

if there are to many bpc of anything, the market is flooded and the price falls resulting in less profit resulting in the colapse of economy. simple as pie: control the amount of product to keep prices stable.

The only difference between making the products yourself or churning out the BPc's. (I think it's a 300max run, but correct me if I'm wrong) is that you don't have to have the manufacturing logistics setup.... If the copying process was MORE efficant than manufacturing as someone pointed out it would soon flood the market.
As well as congratulating Innsmouth I have got to thank the Devs/CCP for actually thinking this one through.

Actually, and somewhat off topic, expect yet more angst about the Miner II.
Essentially a row is brewing already over the distribution of the BPs gained via missions - the Miner II is of far higher "value" and is tech II , whereas all the other BP drops are for Tech I items not only of lower value but invariably also of modules used in the single number on ships (as opposed to up to eight for a Miner II).
As such there are those, as ever, ready to cause a stink over why there is such a amrked discrepancy in value of the BPs handed out via missions.
Personally Im not sure I give a hoot as BBBB will have a miner II original from next week also... and thats ontop f our existing SHield-Boost Amplifier.
It does go to show, however, that no matter what you do somebody will complain.

That copies take longer to produce ons tandard runs is a good thing IMO.
We are not even contemplating releasing BPCs from ours - Ive seen too much price slashing and ruined economic efforts in the galaxy so far to want to partake in another debacle.

make some copies to sell, small runs of 10-20 would take little time to do. Think of a reasonable price, and I am sure many would buy those. ...fear the evil monkey in your hanger...

Glad to see anther miner II bp in the game and yes prices have dropped and currently hover around the 4 mil mark. A couple more given out in missions and the price may become afffordable to the masses.
As far as 8 on a ship with the nerfing of cpu boosters is that even possible anymore? I doubt it but even if you could your cargo space would be so limited(because you had to sacrifice low slots to the boosters) as to make use of this number a royal pain in the butt. Hmm wonder if dev's had that in mind when nerfing the cpu booster then inserting another miner II bp into the game. This factor should force prices down also. 3 mil per miner II MAY become a new price standard and that would make it reasonably affordable for the masses.

With all the greedy low-brows out there selling hot items for 1 ISK less than the next guy, it is refreshing to see a few that really understand economics... not just how to sell my phat lewts cheaper so I win the bid wars. Supply and Demand should drive the price, not "how do I get ppl to buy from only meeeeee!"

That is like when you buy the latest and greates CPU out there or memory chip. It does not cost any more to make these new products then it does to make that old P4 that is 500 dollars less but you pay that price because it is best out there even though these cost pennys to produce. -- Datsevlu Blow'em up we'll build more.

While more and more Miner II producers will crop up, I don't think prices will plummet per-se, as the number of people pulling specifically Minmatar agent marathons of over 250-300 missions is probably less than 20.
Probably enough to create a healthy competition, but not probably not enough to get into the tit-for-tat price diving competitions we see on easily acquired blueprints. No one doing that many missions will be keen to undercut -everyone- and shoot their cash cow in the head at the same time. With production rates on miner II's being what they are compared to demand right now, the cheap ones will be snapped up too fast to make a big dent on the 4-5 million/miner isk market.
*groans* Need to go back and keep plugging at the missions again. Timing sucks, since I'm just now venturing out to chain pirate cruisers for the first time.

Can you tell us the exact details of how your Miner II Blueprint was obtained? (# of missions - level agent?).
How about the copying. Can you tell us how many runs the limit is, copying time, anything else?
I for one would love to buy a 20 run BP copy for my own corporate use, I'm sure many others would as well, can you tell us if you plan to release BP copies like that from your original?
Thanks,
Calladen

I'd like to know exactly which lvl agent gave out the miner 2 BP, as well as how many missions and what race they are. I've only just started doing agent missions with an alt as my main character is a couple of hours travel from my agents, and I'm always getting hassled to build stuff in my corp .
Also when the miner II's become public how much are they going to cost, also what would it cost to get a 20 run bpc?

In terms of the value of the Miner 2 bp, there are a couple of points you might want to consider:
1. Over time more and more BPs will come into play (I'm hoping for one myself, 200 level 3 missions done so far :-) ) and increased production will almost certainly lead to very substantial drops in cost. I think the estimate that someone quoted in terms of the numbers of people doing large numbers of agent missions is a lil low, theres a lot more doing agent missions now due to implants.
2. Mining lasers are a lot less likely to need replaced as much of the mining goes on in high sec space, combat equipment is going to be replaced more often for the simple reason that combat is riskier i.e. once the market is saturated there will be much less demand for Miner 2s.
3. Who know's what the future will bring :-) Just cos the Minmatar got lucky this time around doesn't mean they will the next time.

Edited by: Imogen sparrow on 10/10/2003 12:56:54 Hi.
The blue print was given to my CEO after the compleation of missions with a level 3 agent named Krigasand Eytteinn Completed = 272 Failed = 5
The BPC situation was dicused in the news artical, however, we will not be making any miner 2 BPCs. The reason being it's not economic to do so. It takes longer per output unit to produce BPCs than it does to produce lazers. Therefore the miner 2 bpcs would be more expencive than just buying that many lazers.

Well, advanced research blueprinting skills will start to make the copying process faster than using the BP for 24/7 manufacturing, by reducing the time it takes to make a copy.

I feel sorry for those with Amarr agents.
They're doubly screwed - Worst implant, and worst BP reward from what I hear.
And I won't be bothering with my Gallente agent once I get enough cash from implants for a Megathron. An armor hardener just isn't worth running 300 missions. At least Gallente have a decent implant.
From what I've heard and experienced, the rundown of rewards is as follows:
Minmatar - Willpower implants starting at around 40-50 missions, averaging 1 every 10 missions or more once you hit 40-50. Miner II original at around 300ish missions. (Level 3 for a single agent for both of these stats.) Amarr - Charisma implants, explosive armor hardener BPs (same missioncount stats.) Caldari - Memory implants, shieldboost amplifier BPs. Gallente - Intelligence implants, another form of armor hardener. ------------ Ezra Cornell pe0n, Xanadu Corporation |
