If my corp mate has kill rights on someone and she goes to attack him in hi sec thats OK.
If I'm ganged with my corpmate can I attack?
If she attacks, he retaliates can I then open fire as he's aggressed against one of my gang?
Or what?

Edited by: Mr Cleann on 09/08/2006 18:35:09 Kill rights work like this....if you find your self suddenly in a new clone brought on by someone opening your capsule to the vast cold ness of space, not to mention the vacuume. god its cold in space -300 deg f. ANYWAYS... back to the subject lol. you have up to 30 days to kill that player 1x anywhere and any place at any time without concord saying hey you can't do that ...and they pop ur yacht. after that 30 days, u can no longer kill them and expect concord to just sit and say good job!

No, only the player with kill rights can attack safely.
What you can do is to remote repair your corp mate. If the bloke tries to shoot you, he will get get concorded/shot at by sentry guns dpending on what sec system you're in.

Personal experience indicates that being podded gives no kill right.

check if your corp was in war with the other corp from which the other player that poded you belonged ... i also been sent to the gutters recently being my first time, i wondered myself why cant i attack the bastard that popped my pod ... well afterwards i realised that i was asking myself "why did the enemy shot me?" :)
So quick answer you get killrights if the other player that pods you doessent belong to a corp that is not in war with yours.

You said (after removing your double negatives), that you get kill right if the podder belongs to a corp that is in war with yours.
My response is: But it's an legal attack. War = legal to destroy and pod.

To extend this topic a bit ... is there a thread that someone could point me to (or just give a quick explanation here) that explains the rights/durations and consequences for: - killing yellow highlighted names - killing red highlighted blinking names - killing names with skulls beside them - killing names with a red and white symbol beside them - looting cargo cans that are not yours
I would imagine that there is a loss or gain in security status for each of those actions as well as potential kill rights being applied and those consequences may be temporary or permanent. But I haven't found a spot that explains what happens exactly and clearly. The Law section in the New Player Guide is a bit vague.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Read Grismar's Rules of Engagement
Thank you very much, Sandeep! That link (and links to info within that link) was exactly what I was looking for. It is not a simple system, it would seem but it is fairly robust.
I have a follow up question about Bounties ... I used to play UO way back when and one of the flaws in the bounty system was that a murderer's buddy could collect the bounty and share it with the murderer (which made bounties fairly useless). Are there any systems present in Eve to help prevent this? The only one I can see is the cost of a new clone being quite high for a player with high skills ... but if the bounty is high enough, this still might be profitable.

No. If you want to set a bounty, set a low one. The skull in overview tends to make potential targets more vary i guess. At least i had a much harder time after a got my bounty.
