Just got my Merlin destroyed by a PC. Which in itself hasn't annoyed me.
But I'm wondering why some people just kill other players with no apparent reason. I couldn't have been carrying anything that would have been of any worth in a Merlin and there was no demand for any isk.
Any PKers out there wanna give me some insight into why they do it?
[edited bit] Don't get me wrong people. I'm not putting PKers down and I'm not about to cancel my account in a huff.
PKing is as much a part of the game as my idiotic route planning.
I'm just intersted in why people do it. [end]
Here's the bit that's annoyed me and stopped me playing for the evening.
"0 Items available" What the hell is that about. I can't even re-equip my ship and carry on. Just how difficult is stuff like that to fix. If you want some leasons in SQL CCP drop me a line. Try this for the time being ... "WHERE [something] > 0"

Are you serious?
Why does there have to be profit involved? Killing people in video games is fun; it has been since video games were invented, and will be forever more.

I understand that but there was no challenge involved in destroying me.
Like an idiot I didn't check my route and stumbled into a 0.4 system.
I pleaded with the guy to let me off the hook after he scrambled me but he didn't even do me the courtesy of replying to any of my chat.
Surely the pleasure in destroying other players must come from the challenge not the lack of challenge. That's just bullying!

Edited by: Indigo Seqi on 09/10/2003 22:31:12 We just blow up frigates because it's not worth pirating them.
In your specific case though, I actually wanted to pirate you just for the sport of it, but I was veto'd :(
p.s.: You didn't see my chat at all? :)

Well, if CCP gave pirates better tools to actually stop ships then perhaps more pirates would try to stop ships and ask a fee for safe passage. But with everyone using microwarp drives, warp core stabilizers,insta-jump bookmarks, logging off at first sight of trouble, etc. etc., most pirates prefer to just blow everyone up instead of risking that the ship will get away.
As far as blowing up frigates and shuttles, well, just last week we got 25 mil worth of megacyte of an IBIS, and original Moa blueprint of an SHUTTLE.

Sorry Indigo. I didn't see any chat after you blew me up. I went LD (thanks to BT for that, you were 30 seconds too late). I was a bit hasty mentioning the chat part.

If the pirates get better gate stopping tools, then the bounty hunters get better tracking tools :) ------------------

I guess it's like hunting deer with high velocity rifles.
I don't understand it any better but at least I've got a real life comparison to work with.

Quite the opposite happened.
Gate stopping tools:
- fast locking time, - webifiers, - warp jammers/scramblers, - target jamming/sensor dampening,
or
- firepower.
Sensor dampening has been nerfed, until then it was SI's favourite module. To maintain same lethality with sensor dampeners we would have to drop a webifier now or even two e.g., which weaknens the gate stopping alot.
On the other side, shield systems have been nerfed too, it's easier to blow someone up now, especially when you need a shield transfer group / jamming group to care about the sentry guns.
Tech Level II EW stuff would be cool, and I wish a pirate corp would have a monopoly on some of the items . -- Kasha > Mastema, face the reality: All the juicy dots are gone. -- |

Negotiating with a noob ship/shuttle/frigate (maybe even scout) pilot can be also dangerous for the camping party. It binds resources for upcoming more valueable/dangerous targets.
To stop a fast frigate people need webifiers...
It's more convenient to blow small ships up . -- Kasha > Mastema, face the reality: All the juicy dots are gone. -- |
