Alright who actually uses the destroyer on a regular basis? Probably not many of you. Ive seen the stats and the destroyer has the Sig and speed of a cruiser and the life span of a T1 frigate...with no resistance...vs a command ship. I think you see my point.
To fix this? Alright the Destroyers role is to kill frigates yet it gets eaten by inty's and AF's (good ones).
The fix? Make Destroyers like desposable cruisers. Say for the coercer 2,000 armor and 1300 shields. Make its fittings only what you need to fit small guns and a pitiful tank so it doesnt become a good pvp ship.
But at this point dessies arent very good. Just make em bigger but still the same. Just so 1 dessie cant get raped by an inty.

should just be a cruiser offshoot in my opinion, less health, pretty much the same for everything else but get's bonuses to SMALL guns. why the funk are there no ships with bonuses to weapons from outside it's size class?

What I'd really want is an Assault Destroyer (Tech 2). Take a Catalyst, remove ROF penalty, change falloff bonus to second optimal bonus Cormorant-style (seeing as blasters don't work that well on destroyers most of the time), give it AF-like resistances and armor, and maybe a slight BC-style tanking bonus to balance out the bigger size compared to frigs as well as a slight sig radius reduction. Also speed should be almost what the interdictors have now. Of course would have to be careful not to make it overpowered, but make something like that and I'd train Destroyers 5 right away

I want a tech II dessy with the following stats for caldari:
7 turret slots 4 medium slots 2 low slots 90 sig radious
increase of 10 pg and 15 cpu over cormy and 40m/s increase in speed
50% optimal range class bonus 10% dessy optimal range per level 10% tracking perlevel dessy 5% shield resist per level of whatever skill needed to fly this ship
retains it's role bonus like tech II battlecruisers but only gets 3 bonuses a la Assault frigs

I am going to have to jump on this bandwagon with you guys. I like desys... the whole concept that is, but they do need changes to make them more relivant to the game as a whole. At the moment it is nothing more than a step from firgs to crusers. Something that you fly as a newb then never go back to again.
The interdictor is in essence the ceptor vershion of the desy we need an assalt ship vershion to go with it. This is in addition to boosting the base stats for desys 10% more power and cpu in addition to a little more speed and a little bit smaller sig with an additional mid or low slot would be ideal without being overpowered. If desys can't deal with T2 frigs properly then what is the point in them.
I fly a Thrasher and I would like to see the following:-
7 hi 3 mid 3 low 60m sig
260 m/s base speed
80 grid 200 cpu
Just my opinion so feel free to put me down if you dont like, it just say why please.

I've been sitting in s-u shooting goons since the bob vs goons war began....started with my muninn but quickly switched to my 7x280mm thrasher. woith 2x sensor boosts locks very quickly and it can usually pop a frig in one volley from 50-60kms away (plated intys often require 2)....its not often you sit in a camp and are the only one on the mail but with the thrasher it happens alot....granted it has limited use but i have used this ship quite alot for what its designed for to great effect.

See thats god unfortunately the Coercer couldnt take on an Ibis without getting taken down to 50% structure

That would be overpowered to a ridiculous degree.

I am still a relative noob - still not 2 months into the game. Despite it's failings i like my cormaorant as it is. Sure I would like it to be bigger and tougher but that is true of all ships. Personally I dont see a major problem with it. It's slower then a frigate but a little faster than the Caldari cruisers and it's sig is too high. However I have enough med slots to boost the shields, run an afterburner and fit a cap recharger or booster. 7 125s and a rocket launcher is plenty of firepower for most level 1 missions - even some level 2. Compare the fire of 7 125s and missile on a cormorant to the rail fire of any Caldari cruiser and you might be surprised. None of them, not even the Moa really outgun it by much and the Moa is 8x the cost.
My corp is currently at war and last night I scored my first PvP kill in my old faithful cormorant - hawk assualt frigate. Sure I had help from a tackler and jammer but my guns chewed thro him just fine.
Cormorant actually makes a decent miner as well, at least in relatively hi sec - 0.7 06 mining, 3 mining lasers and 5 weapons or the odd rat that shows up.
I don't see any need to change the destroyers. They are meant for people like me and maybe as a utility vessel for more experienced players
