I may have come up with a solution for the problem of instas that just may make everyone (pirates and travelers) happy. this is a solution that requires several changes. All of which I have see talked about on the fourms but never put all together. Here goes
1- give us warp to 0, no skills or moduals needed. Our ship computers should be advanced enough to handel the navigation.
2- make warp bubbles and interdiction spheres legal in all systems up to .4
3- make said warp bubbles and interdictions spheres respect warp core stabs. Give them a scramble strength of 3 or 4.
4- Make warp core stabs an activated modual. while they are activated you are unable to target.
Ok there is my idea. I tried to think of how to balance everything out. But I'm sure I've touched on just enough hot topics to make everyone who reads this post want to flame. However I would really like some constructive critisism as to weather anyone thinks this is a good or bad idea.

Keep it all the same, have a warp to 0 option but make it skill dependent with a verying degree of "warp accuracy". High slot modules will also be able to increase your accuracy to warp to 0.
If you make ALL ships able to warp to 0, freighter pilots will have life WAY too easy. There will always have to be some deviance in your warp to 0.
At the same time, Autopilot should always warp you to 15km, the only way you can warp to "0 + deviance" will be to do it manually.
I have a few problems with your proposal, you are introducing a HUGE can of worms by proposing so many things at once. With my idea, you introduce only a couple new things, 2 skills to determine warp accuracy and a highslot item that can increase that accuracy further. Everything else can stay the same.
However, all of our ideas may be completely moot because the devs are already changing a large amount of things that in order to change will require changes to other gameplay issues. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Win a Cynabal for 10ml!!! |

Prime example of the many things that would have to be looked at due to one or 2 changes. It is inevitable. When you change one thing concerning gameplay, you are going to have to look at a billion other things eventually.
To answer the question, make "warp to 0 + deviance" not an option when you are targetted thus forcing you to warp to 15km at the closest. Even more thought than that is needed, but you get the idea. With 10 guys sitting down in a room for a day they'd still never get it right without releasing it and waiting for the community responce. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Win a Cynabal for 10ml!!! |

Yeah highsec wars is one thing I didn't think about. You could always try to catch them warping away from a gate lol.
Also point taken about all this being moot. The devs are smart I'm sure they will come up with a briliant plan... /me crosses fingers
I heard someone mention on eve radio that the devs would unveil something about the changes they were going to make with stabs on eve tv but I don't recall seeing anything. Did anyone catch it or was I just told a blatant lie?

I'm sure it's been suggested in some thread before, but why not leave the system as is but put a restriction on how many active instas you can have. I don't like the 30 second delay when i open my people/places so, I put the majority of bm's in neat labled cans and only use what i think i'm gonna use. Not much different than a mage deciding what spells to memorize for the day.

I like the idea someone had a while ago but just died away from the forums to be replaced by the Warp to 0km crap. ¿ Remove BMs close to gates, and implement a new system.
When you are 1500m from the gate, you have the option of of "Registering" when you register a gate, you get the opption "Warp to 0km", but it's gotta be chosen manually, and you have to register it yourself. oh, and ibtl btw...

Something needs to be done.
I don't think it's fun for anyone but the insta-junkies who want to skip any and all risk in space travel, and for gate campers who love having a place to run to every time someone shoots back.

That's not the only ppl who use instas. What about ppl who have to make 40+ jumps to get to empire to pick up/drop off some stuff? Do you really expect them to go without instas? It'd take at least twice as long in a ceptor.

NO
Instas are not by original design and still arent even supported by the game(see insta copying, see lack of support).
They are aburd in that they are both too easily used and too hard to use.
We need a system where its moduale dependent and where instas routes can not be copied infinetly.
It should be that when you map out a route you make a single copy map that is required every time you run the route. You could trade the maps, but you would need to make a new one if you tarded away your map.(The system would be module dependednt so you couldnt just use make a new map while using the first one.)
Wherever you went - here you are.

The ôwarp-to-0 kmö option has been discussed ad noseum on these forums and if there is one thing that is clear as a result, it is that CCP wonÆt give that option unless it has a major crippling effect on your shipÆs setup. Any discussion that involves ôjust having itö or it being ôskill basedö is a waste of time.
