If i join a gang led by someone who has a war dec against a certian corp, am I able to shoot at the corp he has a war dec against as if my corp has a war dec with that corp?

If your corp is not at war, but you join a gang where any single member is in a corp that is at war, you are not allowed to shoot, unless shot at.
So if you shoot first you get CONCORDed, but if you let them shoot at you first you can fire away.

hrmmm, so i take it if they return fire i still can't shoot? oh well.....thanks for the info

You can return fire. You just can't shoot first.

Just to clarify; they have to shoot at YOU first. They can freely shoot at you at any time, so worst case scenario, they shhot and kill your friends, while you can do nothing, then they turn to you...

they have to shoot you first, so if you arein high sec you they are well within their rights to sit and leave you alone .. this doesnt mean you cant stick a remte shield/energy/armor repair on and force their hand

So once my gangmate's war target shoots at me, I can return fire. What about my corpmates, can they then come and return fire since I am getting shot?

Also be very careful about joining a gang that has a war dec. Some players use 2 accounts. Both accounts have corporations that are at war with each other so if you join the gang with the first account, the second account can fire on you without worrying about CONCORD.
