Thought I might drop a curiosity question for the weekend. What will happen to you and Eve in 5 years time?
Emm...
/me can fly all ships available now /me has 150 million skill points /me will be a multi-trillionaire
Eve reaches half a million concurrent users. Eve's graphics engine is at its nth generation, uber pretty graphics. EON magazine issue #20. Tech III, Tech IV, Tech V, etc.
So yeah, get your wild imagination going! Please post your thoughts ---------- EvE Ship Classes now in poster format |

in 5 years a trillion won't be much probably
half a million? maybe, There may only be twice as much as there is now taking to account how much there is now after 3 years then think of more people who stop playing, etc. Graphix will get pretty incredible I'm sure, real particle clouds instead of those multidirectional textures there is now. The upcoming textures look pretty sweet so theres no telling how much better it will all get. I think by then planetary flight will be around and perfected, I know they presented it in 2004. TechIII and up doesn't make much sense to me really. I would just think more things with T2 and newer modules to have T2. __________________________________

every ship will have a faction/navy version of it. you would be able to customise ship designs... so you have say 5 high slots on your thorax and you could decide whether it has 4 turret points, 3 turret points and missile bay etc that would be a start for me anyhow. npc wingmen would be nice, so if you have 3 punishers in your hangar you could launch 2 of em as wingmen, perhaps by having a module on your ship that can control them, similar to drones but you fit them as normal so they could be more effective, or have drones that could be fitted say by having one high, one med and one low slot on them
in 5 years eve will never ctd, as it will be so sophisticated it can adapt to every situation (wishful thinking now)
combat chatter from "aura", so when your shields hit 50% she says something like "shields at 50%" to liven up missions a bit
anyway these are my thoughts but it is 02.17am so apologies for bad grammar and bad ideas ----------------------------------------------- enjoy this my agent running guide Click here |

People will be whining that their Death Star is crap and does bugger all damage, only enough to blow up Jupiter 10 times over.

Edited by: Anarane on 22/08/2006 00:51:53 I think realistic damage modeling and location specific damage could probably be a pretty realistic expectation in the coming years. You'd still have overall ship integrity, but you'd recieve heavy damage to you port side, and (as someone else metioned), hear Aura giving you the heads up that bulkhead doors are closing to prevent the further venting of atmosphere in to the vacuum.
Simple things would be cool too. Like retrieval drones leaving bays in your ship to open cargo containers and drag the goods back to your ship, where they'll store the goods in your cargo bay, and then return to their retrival drone bay. Yeah, it might make things slower, but you'll have the option to turn it off if you're in a hurry.
Someone mention in another forum about the idea of weapon arcs. In a nut shell, if your weapon is between yourself and your target, it won't fire. It would introduce an element of ship positioning during battle. If you've recieved a significant amount of port damage, you'd potentially lose portside weapon functionality. So, your only option would be to turn the other cheek =P.
There's so many ideas that we could probably hit 100 pages on this post. I think I'll stick with whats currently implemented in the game. Im in over my head enough as it is.

Customizable ship models. Different color schemes, add fins or wings or whatever onto a basic chassis, whatever you can come up with.

That would be awesome! It's funny the OP brought this up. I remember my husband and I used to say..Man, I can't wait until ingame graphics look as good as the cut scenes. This was when we played the first Tomb Raider on the PS. I couldn't even imagine what games would be like when I was playing Fairytale on the Amiga or the *can't remember the title, was a racing game VIC20 cartridge*. I'm looking forward to the future. Who knows what will happen in EVE in 5 years. That would be so cool to be able to be jacked into your comp though. Getting the true feeling of space flight and the PvP would be hella cool.
