that is the question.
Being an old hat beta player (some say vet) I am currently asking myself should I contiue playing EVE.
With ISK to burn (at least for me) and helpful T2 BPOs there is little to be done in that sector.
Wait, there is mission running. Done that, bought the tee shirt, lasted at max 2 weeks.
n00b response: Go PvP in 0.0 ...
Wait, I've been doing that since the CA/SA wars down south.
Fly a dreadnought .... done.
Fly a dreadnought .... lose one too .... done.
Fly a carrier ... trained, time to invest a few ISK to sit at a moon/POS and assign fighters ....
Time for alliance warfare ....
.... Stop the press ....
Sounds good, alliance vs. alliance, massive fights, major combat ....
Last time I saw that was in the good old CA ( fighting SA /emote waves ) when we were all flying battleships, getting popped and flying back to our respective bases in a pod to go grab the next one (fleet battles were 200+ with 5-15 second module activation lag).
Now, and I can't put my finger on it, but something is missing.
Today, my character has been a member (director) of Dental Drilling for 3 Years 3 Months and 3 Days. All the 3s, lucky number for some maybe.
As I see it, EVE doesn't see to be able to handle 300 people in the same system any more, let alone the same grid.
Some of the symptoms indicating this ? Here's a few...
1) Random crashes (on jump/warp/undock).
2) Client/Server totally out of sync (what you see is not what the server sees).
3) 15 minutes until you can reconnect (because you have a PvP timer running ???).
The current alliance warfare has been reduced to refueling POSs. IMHO I have to say that a bigger blob == more control and man power. Currently it means setting up the strontium so that a POS comes out of reinforced just before DT.
Wait, alliances fighting for "SOV" is the pinical, no, the zenith, the ultimate level of PvP in EVE .....
Errr, what ??
... Let us camp a system for 9 days and watch carriers/dreads refuel the POSs we are camping.
... Let us assemble a 40+ capital ship fleet to engage the enemy (and get lagged to death).
... Let us try and shoot each other in a fleet battle.
For those of you in a 0.0 alliance you know that these are current issues and we all have a dream that it will be possible.
Someday, maybe, if we're lucky.
I have high hopes in the next patch, it seems to be able to support loads of chinese beta testers on the server. Hopfully some of that knowledge will move in TQ's direction.
TBH, I don't know what to expect from EVE and CCP in the future. But I sincerely hope that warfare at alliance level also involves killing stuff and not just logistics, either that or I think I've seen and done everything that can be done in this player driven game.

My personal input would be to learn to fly solo pvp scepters (with setups designed to stay out of web range).
It's a world of fun, and the skill involved is not something to laugh at.
If you do end up going though, can I have your T2 bpo?

Sounds like you have experienced most of Eve. No game lasts forever and more than 3 years is pretty good. I think you should stay until september though and check out the new stuff, even though factional warfare isnt coming until december.

You haven't touched half of the player content.
All your experience revolves around the basics albeit even if you are flying advanced ships.
PvP? Lol... yeah... seems you have done the cookie cutter stuff.
Why don't you go merc, start an IPO, fight bob? There really are too many options to list but if you really think you have done it all then your wrong... and its sad.

got to agree with you jaabaa, POS warfare and sov is a total anticlimax of pvp.
you could always do the therapy thing, find a nice lowsec system with lots of traffic and spend 6months killing everything and everyone in there.
its fun as hell.
